[SIZE="1"][FONT="Franklin Gothic Medium"]The Mursi are a Sub-Saharan African nomadic cattle-herding tribe from an isolated region of southwestern Ethiopia close to the Sudanese border. The Mursi women are famous of wearing plates in their lower lips – though photographs indicate that, in fact, either lip may be pierced. This practice is supposed to have originated as a means of detering slave-traders; as the lips are not pierced until girls are aged fifteen or sixteen this seems unlikely. The lip discs are made of clay and, yes, they are removed for eating.[/FONT][/SIZE]

No, not really. She is made up to look like a Mursi woman. She is really not Mursi.

She is not even black! She has blonde hair and blue eyes.

Mursi, Mursi me. Things aren't what they used to be.

I'm surprised the plate in the lip look hasn't caught on with the body mod crowd. I mean you could do all sorts of things with it. Flashing chaser lights so it looks like it's rotating, embedded mp3 player and speakers. Nacho tray. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination and your willingness to pursue increasingly larger gauges..

If this is supposed to be the same woman, I call shenanigans. Look at the lips. They're completely different.

I agree! Look back up at the picture that has a mirror to the right. I think we see the "blond white girl" applying makeup to someone else.

I think her lips look different in the picture on the left because the face mask is partially plastered over her lower lip. The eyes look the same to me.

However, there's one shot (third from the bottom in the original post) where her eyes appear brown. Not sure what that's about. Could just be screwy camera lighting.

I've seen these women with it in their bottom lip. Never in the top. seems like that would be a huge pain in the ass to live with in either lip, but more so in the top. how are you gonna drink from a can of coke? you're not! can't smoke a pipe, can't give a BJ, can't blow a raspberry, can't even smile properly.

Philtrum. That's what I should've said. Their philtrums are too different.
