February 16, 2012 - Toot your own horn

classicman • Feb 15, 2012 11:15 pm
Dunno what this is other than the obvious.

Caption says "Nan Weidong – właściciel jedynej na świecie fletni z marchewek i szalotek, twórca wielu innych podatnych na gnicie instrumentów, wirtuoz gry na kamieniach, butelkach i rurach…"
which came through google translator as:
"Nan Weidong - the owner of the world's only flute with the carrots and shallots, creator of many other instruments are susceptible to rot, a virtuoso on the stones, bottles and pipes ..."

From here

Stop playing your food! There are starving musicians in China, ya know!
Sundae • Feb 16, 2012 9:07 am
Toot your fruit!
classicman • Feb 16, 2012 10:38 am
lol - I thought of that too Sundae, but its not fruit. (sigh)
infinite monkey • Feb 16, 2012 10:39 am
Toot your root!

A tutor who tooted a root
Tried to tutor two tooters to toot
Said the two to the tutor
"Is it harder to toot
Or to tutor two tooters to toot?"

Toot your root!

FTW... :notworthy

The carrot can be considered fruit in European Law due to the official definition of marmalade.

Because carrot marmalade (usually a slightly bitter orange jam - traditional breakfast toast topping here) is a Portuguese delicacy, the carrot needed to pass as a fruit to make the laws make sense.

Yeah. Like carrot as a fruit makes sense.

Like I told my mother when I was a kid, if I eat it, they'll still be starving.

I got hit for that.

That should be preserved somewhere.

Outstanding.

That's a new one on me.
I came out with the other classic response "Send it to them then!"
I think I got hit for that too.

A tutor who tooted a root
Tried to tutor two tooters to toot
Said the two to the tutor
"Is it harder to neuter
Or live your whole life as a fruit?

With apols to Infi, who I shamelessly stole from.
But I am a pedant and needed a proper limerick form before I could sleep.
infinite monkey • Feb 16, 2012 2:52 pm
I didn't write that tongue twister...it's as old as time.

Except for changing 'flute' to 'root.'

So I don't know what you mean by proper limerick form.

Yeah, not like pizza as a vegetable. Now THAT makes sense.
infinite monkey • Feb 16, 2012 2:58 pm
I made a cake out of pizza and bread and carrots and onions, and some leeks.

Sorry chick, I thought you'd made it up on the spot. My changes were to make it conform to a style it was never intended to be.

Works good though, huh?
infinite monkey • Feb 16, 2012 3:04 pm
Me likey. ;)

Nah, I mean I'm clever and all, but that's an oldie. :)
Sundae • Feb 16, 2012 3:16 pm
Don't be so modest.
You're an oldie too.

:rotflol:
(sometimes I'm so funny I could just shit myself)
infinite monkey • Feb 16, 2012 3:18 pm
AND I'm mean and clever too also as well.
Sundae • Feb 16, 2012 3:19 pm
Amended that after you posted.
But it still applies.
Can you see into the future?
infinite monkey • Feb 16, 2012 3:22 pm
I can barely see into the present.
Sundae • Feb 16, 2012 3:24 pm
It's eggs.
SPUCK • Feb 17, 2012 6:22 am

It was a limerick. the "Or" just should have been on the end of the previous line.
Sundae • Feb 18, 2012 6:14 am
IMHO, limericks need to rhyme. Even shifting the Or still leaves a repetition.

There's nothing new under the sun!
