Moderator Nomination Thread

Undertoad • Jan 30, 2012 3:24 pm
This is part one of the moderators election. (Part two is the actual vote.)

The term of office for this election is through 1/1/2013, and the number of moderators shall remain unchanged at two.

Nominate people to be voted on in the moderators election. People nominated here will appear in the moderators vote, unless they specifically say they do not accept the nomination.

Joke nominations are discouraged, only because I can't tell whether you are joking or not.

The moderator election is not a popularity contest, and everybody hopes that losers, if there are any, do not feel discouraged about the Cellar. Moderator is a harder job than it appears, if only because people think of you differently if you are a moderator.

Nominations will close at 11:59 pm Eastern time on Feb. 2. If this is longer than appears necessary, it's only to make sure everyone gets a chance to see the thread and participate.

Nominations are open.

Glatt
Clod
Wolf
Zen (being global we need someone in a different timeframe)
Gravdigr • Jan 30, 2012 4:45 pm
Those all sound good.
infinite monkey • Jan 30, 2012 4:49 pm
They all sound good to me too.
monster • Jan 30, 2012 4:53 pm
I have no complaints with the moderation.
HungLikeJesus • Jan 30, 2012 5:02 pm
I think the current moderators are doing a fine job, but if they need a break, I'll nominate Infinite Monkey and Jimhelm.
Aliantha • Jan 30, 2012 5:35 pm
I think glatt and wolf are doing fine.

I'd also suggest that Bruce be considered if he's had enough of a break from it.
monster • Jan 30, 2012 5:47 pm
oh yes, if they need a break, that's different. I also like fobble and zen as nominations. Limey would be good too
glatt • Jan 30, 2012 5:56 pm
I'm willing to keep doing it.
zippyt • Jan 30, 2012 6:01 pm
Wolf
Glatt

alts are

Clod and Zen if they are willing
classicman • Jan 30, 2012 6:20 pm
The moderators have always done a fine job. If the current mods are OK with continuing,
then I see no need to "fix what ain't broke" as Grav would say.

Word. It ain't broke.

"I will not accept if nominated and will not serve if elected."

Seriously, I think the current moderators are doing great. Nothing needs to be changed unless someone's getting tired of the job.
DanaC • Jan 31, 2012 5:32 am
As others have said. The current mods do a great job. If they're happy to continue, then great.

If people are looking for a break though, I'd say Clod and Zen would be excellent.

Thanks, but no thanks. I am unable to accept additional commitments at this time.

This probably falls under the 'joke nominations' and we can't tell if you're serious.

Jim, I could see. Me? Uh, yeah...no! :p:

Thanks though, HLJ.

You'd be a good one, too, btw!
monster • Jan 31, 2012 8:40 am
but we'd all have such fun watching you bicker....
infinite monkey • Jan 31, 2012 8:58 am
Me and jim? Nah.

Me and classic, now that would be a disaster. We'd just keep banning each other.
HungLikeJesus • Jan 31, 2012 9:23 am
That was a serious nomination. I think you would do a good job.
infinite monkey • Jan 31, 2012 9:30 am
Thanks HLJ.

I respectfully decline, but I appreciate your faith in me. :)
jimhelm • Jan 31, 2012 9:53 am
Id do it, but I don't think I would vote for me. I don't read half the threads or more.
footfootfoot • Jan 31, 2012 10:14 am
I asked you to lick my erection not wreck my election!
Clodfobble • Jan 31, 2012 12:39 pm
I gratefully but humbly decline. My schedule is better these days than it used to be, but I am still too busy and afraid to commit. Maybe next year.
footfootfoot • Jan 31, 2012 12:52 pm
Wait, are you declining to wreck my election? Cause that wasn't really directed at you.

Absolutely! I believe I've made it clear that I hate freedom, democracy, and America.
footfootfoot • Jan 31, 2012 3:37 pm
Well, no one can accuse you of moderation.
Griff • Jan 31, 2012 7:10 pm
Moderation in defense of the cellar is no vice.
wolf • Jan 31, 2012 7:20 pm
I would be happy to continue moderately moderating.
fargon • Jan 31, 2012 7:48 pm
Wolf, and Glatt forever!!!

There's something wrong with me, this is how I read Griff's line:

Murder in defense of the cellar is no vice.

Perhaps this is what you're thinking of.

Get in the cellar!

That's cool as well.

not true but made me smile: moderation in defence of the cellar is novice.
ZenGum • Feb 2, 2012 12:12 am
I would not be able to be consistently present; I'd rather not be a moderator.

I think the current team are excellent.

Also, once I take one swing of the ban-hammer, I expect I would go power crazy. About a quarter of you peeps would be gone. :D

Gadzooks! Someone leaked the secret plan to have a swimsuit competition as part of the election process and scared some people off. Oh well, at least those remaining know now what will be expected of them.

Actually, I'm quite confident of winning a swimsuit competition ...

If you provide the list I think you'll have a good chance of getting elected.
