I want 2 to be some part of General Electric, but I admit I can't actually see it, the loops just remind me of it.

4 Fed Ex
9 Time (Magazine)
11 RCA
15 Bug's Life

I recognize 7, it should be rotated to the left 90 degrees, but I can't place it.

What do you mean, "hm?" Surely it's this dog, filled all in black. If not, some other company totally stole their dog from RCA.
footfootfoot • Jan 28, 2012 11:15 pm
He has a name, Nipper.
The 90 degree roation one is X box, is it not? some computerish game thingy, I think.

Naif? Or just in the wrong country?

It's really the HMV logo. It was also used by RCA, but it was HMV's first, and when RCA started using it, HMV went to the silhouette, which this one is.

wikipedia wrote:
In 1929 RCA purchased the Victor Talking Machine Company, then the world's largest manufacturer of phonographs (including the famous "Victrola") and phonograph records. This included a majority ownership of the Victor Company of Japan (JVC). The new subsidiary then became RCA-Victor. With Victor, RCA acquired New World rights to the Nipper trademark. This Trademark is also the trademark for the British music & entertainment company HMV who now display Nipper in silhouette. RCA Victor produced many radio-phonographs and also created RCA Photophone, a sound-on-film system for sound films that competed with William Fox's sound-on-film Movietone and Warner Bros.' sound-on-disc Vitaphone.

You're right for most of them. Turns out I am far less aware than I thought!
But I have never seen these in my life:
8) Chevy
10) Zynga
12) Greyhound

What is Zynga?

ETA - ditto General Electric. As in never seen.

The Google one really stumped me too.
I use Google and swear I have never seen that logo either.
But I guess I must have done, which is why I admit to being unaware.
monster • Jan 29, 2012 11:21 am
Zynga is international -it's on facebook -ask Limey, Yes, some of them are US-oriented, but some of them are not -HMV is British, two more of those as yet unidentified are not mainstream in the US. I knew Greyhound before I left the US -it's in lots of movies. I bet many Europeans know Chevy. Just not all of them.

And it's not Google, that's why.

You just can't win everything :)
Sundae • Jan 29, 2012 11:40 am
I hate being ignorant even more than I hate not winning :(
monster • Jan 29, 2012 11:50 am
It's not ignorance, they're supposed to be hard. They may even require research. it's no fun if the first one to see the quiz can answer all of them, is it?
monster • Jan 29, 2012 11:50 am
...and I went to great lengths to try and give it an international flavor.
Sundae • Jan 29, 2012 11:53 am
... and then I go and spoil it all by saying something silly like waaaaaaaaa!
monster • Jan 29, 2012 11:55 am
one whinging pom does not a quiz spoil. Now go ahead and get googling.
Sundae • Jan 29, 2012 12:05 pm
I was channelling Robbie and Nicole
monster • Jan 29, 2012 6:33 pm
I was channeling Simon.

No more guesses, really?

c'mon people, you're gonna kick yourselves on some of them..... Maybe not #5, but some of them.....
Clodfobble • Jan 29, 2012 7:15 pm
Hmm... Is 14 High School Musical?
Clodfobble • Jan 29, 2012 7:16 pm
And 13 is a movie, something animated. I want to say something by Tim Burton, except none of his movies have a G in them.

I never considered they might be letters from a word. D'oh!

I see the Beatles one now.
Never seen or read anything to do with Twilight, so I forgive myself most readily.

Thanks for the brain stretcher, Monster.
