Film Alphabet 1970s
I thought this might be fun. The pictures represent a film from the 70s by alphabet. There are other decades so I figured if this game took off we'd do the other ones.
Artist's website
here.
Also the image is from a cheezburger site and you can see it in the bottom left corner. If you check out the site you can get the answers from the comments, which I have done so I refrain from answering.
Don't know B.
Clockwork Orange.
Deliverance.
Enter the Dragon.
:smack: Oh yea!!!
Blackula!
I'm doing the one's not mentioned yet that I know. I got all of the ones mentioned so far.
Ilsa - She Wolf of the SS
Logans Run
Mad Max
One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest (?)
Rocky
Shaft
Taxi Driver
Up in Smoke
Westworld
Zulu
I had B and E.
I'm pretty sure I've got M, O, S and Z but I guess I have to wait.
Carry on.
Eta, dammit Rich I only knew four, you trumped the lot. :p
ETA: K ... Kramer Vs Kramer?
How about we do them one at a time so others not on or in different time zones/countries can have a shot as them ... just a thought.
Kramer vs Kramer? Not sure.
How about we do them one at a time so others not on or in different time zones/countries can have a shot as them ... just a thought.
Well here's my next one....
Harold and Maude (maybe)
These are the ones that are correct so far, according to one person on the site. They are still arguing over a couple of them. Some of them I don't even know.

Yeah,
I knew A, C, D, E, F, J, K, N, L, O, M, R, S, T, U, W, and Z. But I only gave the answer for A because I figured we would make a fun game out of it that might last a day or so.
By my reckoning, G is next, and I don't know that one, so I'm keeping quiet on J, N, and Q.
Pretty sure I know Q.
I just figured it was a blurting game. (This is how my family describes games: blurting or not blurting. For example Trivial Pursuit is non-blurting, because people blurt out answers until you nod your head yes.)
Dwellars tend to not monopolize games, so I didn't make rules. If you all want we'll do the other decades one letter at a time. :)
So let's fill in the rest, peeps.
J is Jaws
N is National Lampoon's Animal House

Ah yes, that movie makes so much more sense when interpreted with a domination theme in mind. :)
Sorry merc, no, no, and no. ;)
My bad, should have been Harold and Maude. vs made it seem more Fight Club than de Sade.
P just came to me. That's Shelly Winters struggling up a staircase in Poseidon Adventure

I'm going to start guessing now. Is G from the Gauntlet? There were a hell of a lot of guns in that movie, and a shotgun could have been one of them.
No. It's fairly obscure, I think.
But I looked up the answer they gave (on roflrazzi) in google images, and sure enough, they were right.
Not Godfather, which is what I would have thought.
edit: fairly obscure in that it isn't a huge film like GF
Woohooo! That's it! The pic matches the image they used for some of the advertising.

Get Carter
Well done. I had even come across Get Carter in my image searches for 3 piece suits and shotguns, but the clothing was different so I didn't think it was right.
The woman from H reminds me a lot of Jane Fonda from her Klute days. But she has no "H" movies.
H is a good one. You might never get it.
This is the image they used for Get Carter:
Wish I'd got here earlier.
Get Carter was one of the few I had without hesitation.
(It's an English film of course)
I'm wondering if the X film could be X, Y and Zee.
I know it had Caine in it again, and that could be Elizabeth Taylor.
Never seen it, but it came up as a quiz night question once. Very few films out there start with X until you get to the X-Men franchise!
I haven't looked it up, but I have a feeling it might be a 60s film.
YOU'RE RIGHT! I hadn't even heard of that movie! :) (1972)

Just H, V, and Y left.
Let me know when you want me to post hints...I'm thinking the picture it was based on should do it. I may have to block out names, though.
V intrigues me.
The coat and the stance remind me of Captain Jack Harkness :)
It is definitely an American movie, in a quintessential American genre.
I think I've got it purely from the word clue.
But I then had to check there was a 70s film of that name.
So I won't post it because that feels like cheating.
Oh, I don't think so. It's all part of the game, really. Unless you looked at the comments on the site it's not cheating.
This is a bigger time waster than Where is it?

Moving the image and work in progress to the new page.
....
Except the image didn't make the move. grrrr
IM ...
I got V, but I had to look on the Web cuz at first I thought it was a Clint Eastwoood movie, but then learned it was Burt Lancaster.
Since I sorta cheated, should I not post it?
No, you're allowed to look on the web! Post away.
And BigV? What? ;)
edit: what referring to moving the page.
It is not Villain.
my display of this thread has separated the image in your opening post from the current position in the thread. I made an effort to reproduce the image in my post so that I could see the current work AND the image for reference without having to flip "pages" in the thread.
Vengeance, I say again.
Will no-one let me have my Vengeance?

I had three versions of the Cellar open at one point.
Ahh, I see BigV. Thanks for trying though. I have the advantage of having that page up on another window.
And it isn't Vengeance. :D

And do you want to do them in order?
Damn and double damn.
Got one film wrong AND fancied Richard Gere by mistake!
Seriously!
During WWII, the United States set up army bases in Great Britain as part of the war effort. Against their proper sensibilities, many of the Brits don't much like the brash Yanks, especially when it comes to the G.I.s making advances on the lonely British girls, some whose boyfriends are also away for the war.
I think its morer fairer if we do them one at a time. It gives more peeps a chance to play.
OK, starting a new thread.
I'll pick a decade.
Over-sexed, overpaid and over here I think was the phrase.
We shocked them in return, by treating black servicemen the same as white ones (they were all foreigners).
Start a new thread for new Alphabets!
And thanks muchly - I've LOVED this!
Thanks, it's been fun for me too. I have spreadsheets set up and everything!
Go with the 60's - then we can do the others in order? OCD=me
I enjoyed this one as well, thanks infi. :)
Thanks, V.
Sorry, classic. I already started the thread. Since I was already out of order anyway!
movie ref:
YOU'RE out of order! YOU'RE out of order! THE WHOLE TRIAL IS OUT OF ORDER! THEY'RE OUT OF ORDER!
Get Carter is a great film!!
Another one that I haven't seen and makes me question my 'film buff' idea of myself!
Don't feel too bad - I still haven't seen ET, and I'm not sure about Gone with the Wind.
You said that before, about ET, and I could smack you! How on earth...? ;)
Gone with the Wind? My favorite of all time. They showed it on TV when I was a young teenager, and I was mesmerized.
You should watch both then tell me what you think.
If I watched them, then I wouldn't have anything interesting to say.
If I watched them, then I wouldn't have anything interesting to say.
B.S.
Your avoidance of hugely popular movies isn't your only pony trick, you know. ;)
Damn and double damn.
Got one film wrong AND fancied Richard Gere by mistake!
