Dozens of troops arrived Sunday evening in Cordova, the small coastal town hit hardest by the snow, which has triggered avalanches and even trapped some people in their homes. At least three buildings have collapsed and six homes are deemed “severely stressed” by wet snow.

Wow. Makes me kinda glad I live in sauna-land.

I think the snow I was wishing for really hard has been delivered to the wrong address.

Then again, if I lived in Alaska I'd probably have more luck like this.

Cordova has stolen our precipitation!! The bastards!

We normally have about 15 inches of rain by now. We've had zilch.

We've had no snow here, either. normally we'd be several feet under by now. it's been above freezing pretty much every day for the last month. Unheard of. They say that more than a thousand high temp records have been broken nationwide over the last week or so...

The snow on that flat roof looks 5 or 6 feet deep to me. I'm surprised it hasn't caved in yet. It must be light and fluffy snow, and not heavy wet stuff.

Well, it is Alaska. Maybe they have extra support in their roofs?

Not only is it warm this year even for Texas (the kids have only had to wear jackets maybe 4 times so far, and more often than that I've worn tank tops this season,) but we're still on Stage II mandatory water restrictions! If we don't get some serious rain over the next few months, we're not going to even catch up from last year's deficit, and it will be a very rough summer indeed.

T-shirt weather here too.
Okay, t-shirt weather is anything above about 12 degrees for me (mid 50s)

We've been having warm weather too. But the party's over. Snow Thursday through Friday. 5 to 8" accumulation.

I heard y'all broke Oklahoma's record for the highest average temperature for the year, something like 84 degrees. :hot:

Weatherman sez there will be frost on car windscreens tomorrow.
Brrrrrrrr!
WHAA?!
That's winter? One frost?

I'm more sulky at not having a proper winter than most people who mourn a dire summer.
But then they at least get a couple of days in the 20s.

I need zero or below, hard frosts and/ or snow.
One week would do!

Yeah, hottest average for any state, ever. Today it's brisk (well, brisk for us, 45 degrees,) and they say it might get colder over the next few days. But I'm not holding my breath.

Crappy crap crap. The rain just turned into snow. Same Old Lang Syne but backwards.
