I May Need Some Help Here ...

wolf • Dec 27, 2011 1:24 pm
I am going to crazynurse's daughter's tonight for a special reason.

To take care of TheLittleMonster.

gothychick has him in one of those home-based daycares, and the "teacher" is taking tomorrow off, and she has nobody to watch TheLittleMonster.

So, having exhausted all possibilities with any actual childcare experience, she scrapes the bottom of the barrel, which falls out, which is where she finds me. "Auntywolf, you'd love to spend the day with TheLittleMonster, wouldn't you?"

Well, yeah. I would. And you did just give me a Playstation3. So, yeah. I'll babysit. What time to you have to leave for work?

"O400."

No shit? I'll stay over so I can sleep through the night and wake up when the kidlet does, okay?

Sure. See you Tuesday.

So, here it is, Tuesday.

I'm going to be leaving in probably about a half-hour, just to miss out on the traffic, and maybe it won't start raining before I get there.

I have watched three different "how to change a diaper" videos. That should be good, right?

And it will be easier than the last time I changed a diaper, which was cloth and involved pins and stuff. That was about 12 years ago, based on my hippie friend's youngest's age.

(note to self, pack rubber gloves)

See, I usually am not trusted by parents to do this until the sprogs are verbal and potty trained.

I may have to check in for advice ... I at least know that I'm supposed to tuck MrWinky down. gothychick mentioned that last night. I really should have asked her to give me some guided instruction before B(aby)-Day.

I figure that my biggest hurdle will be making sure that I remember to set the child safety gate at the top of the stairs.

Make sure you have lots of duct tape. (It may be apparent that I'm not a parent.)
wolf • Dec 27, 2011 1:34 pm
I may text gothygirl and gamingboy questions like "where are the trash can liners and the boning knife" during the day, just to make sure they know that I'm doing the right things for TheLittleMonster.

However, since they already say things like duct tape and dismember with respect to the baby, I doubt it will have the shock effect it would for most parents.

Try asking if the garbage disposal works on bones.
Spexxvet • Dec 27, 2011 2:16 pm
Roll in flour, then buttermilk, then bread crumbs. Fry at a high heat until golden brown.

How old is the sproglet?

Take your gun.

16 months or thereabouts. He learned to climb over the back of the sofa today. I'm doomed.

Remote controlled shock collar

humm if his own toys are not amusing, and it sounds like finger-painting might be out,
try bringing out the pots and a ladle.( If he is more precocious than that put his toys in the pot cover with a lid and have him uncover them.) Big boxes are fun too. Picture books and asking questions about shapes, colors and animals. Pushing a ball back and forth is fun and a carefully watched bath with not very much water is fun too. Watch out for those floaties though. The brown ones. ;)

Oh gawd I don't envy you those diapers. Feed him something to make him a little constipated as soon as he wakes up, then prune juice half an hour before mama comes home......

What fresh Hell is this?! TheLittleMonster is full of poop and it is everywhere!

Wardrobe change needed, for him and me. How does something so small have so much poop in it?
classicman • Dec 28, 2011 11:52 am
Bwahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
wolf • Dec 28, 2011 12:58 pm
Naptime initiated. Managed another poop diaper change AND got him into jammies.

Good luck!
wolf • Dec 28, 2011 1:32 pm
We actually had a nice morning, save for the poop, of course. I also washed the poopy clothing, folded some other laundry, emptied the dishwasher, hand washed some other dishes, and made a dent in the scary-greasy roasting pan, but I think I killed the scrubbie. All three cats are intact and we watched Death Note II. Pretty full day so far.

we watched Death Note II.

Quality viewing for an infant :) lol

Daddy likes slasher movies, so this was pretty tame in comparison. And it was in Japanese, so I think we're okay.

I was bustin on you. IIRC visually fast moving movies tend to tire out their little brains fast.

Up from our nap, snacking on our favorite bananimal crackers. He hugged my leg, it was too cool.
wolf • Dec 28, 2011 3:46 pm
Up from nap, changed a clean looking diaper on general principles, five minutes into post nap snack of our favorite bananimal crackers and we poop again. Where us he keeping it all? His digestive tract isn't that long.

He hugged my leg, though, how darn cute is that?
BigV • Dec 28, 2011 4:09 pm
Is Ryuk in the second one too?
Sundae • Dec 28, 2011 4:38 pm
Well done on the poo front [retch].
Sounds like he's having an excellent time.

Any hugging is cute.
At least leg hugging minimises the issue of saliva exchange (via drool).

wolf - you didn't snag a HAZMAT suit from the nut house before you left???

Coz those puppies come in handy.

= for next time get some latex gloves, a face mask and eye protection.

and don't feed theLittleMonster chili.

Yep. And he looks just like the anime, only 3D CGI modelled. Looks reality good. Ren is in this one, too. There are at least three more live action movies.

Saw that movie too. I think Aunt April fed him Asian food yesterday and I am reaping the rewards. I came with my own latex gloves, though. No moon suit. They bind under the armpits.

Achieved. Mommy is home and he has pooped twice for her.
jimhelm • Dec 28, 2011 5:12 pm
good job, wolf.

you want one of your own now, dontcha?
jimhelm • Dec 28, 2011 5:12 pm
a poo, I mean.
wolf • Dec 28, 2011 6:37 pm
It is good to be the auntie!
HungLikeJesus • Dec 28, 2011 7:07 pm
Cleaned up poop ... hand-washed dishes... that will teach them.

And folding the laundry.

Oh, and one of those "dishes" was the prime rib pan from Christmas. I washed up the others mainly because that one was driving me crazy and there wasn't any room in the sink for it ...

I've pretty much screwed my chances at not being asked to do this again, I suppose.

But, we did have a nice Chinese delivery dinner and watched Final Destination 5, which was really cool.
HungLikeJesus • Dec 29, 2011 7:49 pm
Yes, but did you boil your hands in bleach between those activities?
wolf • Dec 29, 2011 8:06 pm
I brought my own gloves. Nitrile, not rubber. And they're purple. I look teh cool.
limey • Dec 30, 2011 1:30 pm
I think I see a whole new career beckoning ahead of you, Wolf!
