I would like to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you as Merry a Christmas as you can stand, and I hope the New Year brings you nothing but good things.

I love this place.

Likewise! I wish all Dwellars a peaceful, toothsome and happy Christmas and that 2012 brings health, wealth and (even) more happiness. This is a remarkable community and I am proud to be part of it. Thanks, too, to UT for making it happen.

So what cool stuff did you get?

I think this might be the coolest thing I got.
With a hook shaped knife, you can carve hollow areas easily.

Like this spoon I just made from a hunk of black walnut I saved when we cut down a tree in my yard. Still need to sand it, etc.

I hope everyone had a wonderful day, if not with family, at least with friends. :)

Glatt: That is a cool gift.

As for gifts, I wasn't expecting anything. I figured my brother and his wife would give each of us a fleece cap. Yeah, you read right, a fleece cap. Saw him buy a truckload of it. Anyways, they gave my sis and I earphones. Good ones. I am very happy with it. :D
Trilby • Dec 26, 2011 9:18 am
that is one freaking awesome spoon there. Nice work! i love it!
Quel rustique!

I got a lot of nice things - a Brighton clock for one. I loves me some Brighton.

A nice holiday all 'round. Except for the son V. son thing last night.
jimhelm • Dec 26, 2011 9:37 am
Merry merry!

I got one of those k cup coffee makers, a dock for my phone, a new pocket knife just like the old one, and a bunch of ties.

I am pleased.

Wow, it's been a hectic couple of weeks. I helped crazynurse's daughter and her family move, and then spent Christmas with them.

I had the most amazing Christmas ever.

gamingboy had been hinting that my Christmas was going to be spectacular ... but I didn't know HOW spectacular.

When I arrived at the house I found that I had my own stocking hung by the chimney with care ... and there was a little gray stuffed kitty poking out of it ... A Big Bang Theory Soft Kitty, which sings the Soft Kitty song when you squeeze his paw.

Oh wow. How awesome.

When the gift opening started, I got a bunch of other Big Bang Theory swag ... a calendar and DVDs of the first four seasons.

I thought I was done.

Nope.

A Star Wars Stormtrooper mug (which goes beautifully with my Darth Vader), and then a Hello Kitty jellybean jar and a helloKitty stocking ... and I thought I was done.

Nope.

They put a big box in my lap.

Really heavy.

I pulled the paper off the box and ... A Playstation3, Harry Potter Special Edition. That was it. I was completely DONE. Cried. And there were games to go with it. God of War 3, the God of War double pack of the two PSP games, and the latest version of American McGee's Alice, which we saw while out shopping and I'd mentioned how awesome it was. They even bought it in front of me ... I thought they were getting it for themselves.

But that wasn't the best part. I got to spend Christmas with three people that I genuinely like, and I got to watch the little man (16 months) open his gifts.
classicman • Dec 26, 2011 12:40 pm
Awesome! No one deserves it more. You are a wonderful person. So glad for you.
skysidhe • Dec 26, 2011 12:52 pm
aww Wolf...:)

I'm happy for you!

Jim, I think I would be pleased too with a k cup coffee maker. They make a great cup of coffee.

I found enough money to have (give) a Christmas of sorts. I got perfume, quilt, gift card and an angel figurine, phone calls, visiting and a bunch of cards. For a strapped Christmas, around here, it went pretty well. I'm feeling good, but I'm wishing for spring already.

Merry (Late) Christmas, everyone.
Trilby • Dec 26, 2011 12:52 pm
wolf - that is soooooo great!!

I got goosebumps reading your reaction to your gifts.

That's a real present, right there. LOVE.

good for you, woman. You deserve it.

Jim, we got my mom a K cup coffee maker. It's really cool.

Very cool. That's going on my list of projects to attempt.

That will be real handy on Talk Like a Pirate Day.
wolf • Dec 26, 2011 1:24 pm
I have had a Keurig for a couple years. I love it. My first one was a mini, which means you have to put water into it each time you brew. I upgraded to a Platinum B70, which is most awesome.

My favorite coffees are Coffee People Jet Fuel and Black Tiger, and Caribou Obsidian. But I like a strong cup of coffee.

The Apple Cider is pretty yum, too.
zippyt • Dec 26, 2011 1:36 pm
Santa brought me a USB tape deck , a Mag trainer for my bike , some Much needed left angle SATA cables , and a game MW3 !
Any Mw3 run and gunners out there ???

Merry Christmas to all!!

I got loads of goodies (as did they, including the adopt-a-family of 4 girls I bought for). A tiny FM radio/mp3 player with remote for my office, a Kindle case that props it up so I can read hands free, flip flops, nice pair of shoes (I picked out myself), a hair doodad, and a running belt to hold my ipod. Wonderful Christmas!
BrianR • Dec 26, 2011 1:52 pm
I scored a new lounging robe, some new earrings that I've been needing, a couple of shirts, plenty of candy, and for the guy part, a set of sockets (to replace the set that vanished in the garage, *cough*), a yard bag holder and a chainsaw. She must be hinting that she would like some felling and bucking done.

She scored an electric can opener (we've been using a manual version and her arthritis hurts her too much), two Groupons (she loves those), and a big ole food dehydrator so she can make her own treats like jerky and banana chips.

We're happy.

And this on top of my finally being able to finish the house skirting project with the money that we would have spent on each other. Being poor sucks but at least we'll be comfortable!
Sundae • Dec 26, 2011 1:56 pm
Not much - mostly generic toiletries.

Mum and Dad bought me a lovely black cotton kaftan to waft around the house in.
I started wearing it yesterday afternoon as it's cool yet demure (down to my ankles). Not only do I love it but I know they thought carefully about me before buying it.

But I've had a lot from the Cellar in terms of posts and thoughts and sentiment and it really made this Christmas for me. And of course I had two Christmases - one in Glasgow and one in Aylesbury. And home was drama-free this year; a present I literally couldn't buy.

2011 has been kind to me.
HungLikeJesus • Dec 26, 2011 3:56 pm
What's a yard bag, and why does it need holding?
Sundae • Dec 26, 2011 4:12 pm
We use biodegradeable bin-bags for garden refuse, and you get more in if you hold them upright. They are accepted at a specific point at the tip and used by the local authority for composting (for local parks and flowerbeds etc).

That's my guess at a yard bag holder anyway.
It might need more translating than the original query though!
limey • Dec 26, 2011 5:45 pm
I got a t-shirt with a skeleton playing the serpent (don't ask!), some 16th century music, some 20th century music, the first 7 series of Cheers on DVD, a twinkly seahorse brooch, a book on translation, a book on knitting ... a good haul!
We're off tomorrow to do a made dash to Catford, Bromley, Chertsey, Crouch End, West End over the next few days. Family and friends to see ...
DucksNuts • Dec 26, 2011 7:59 pm
Merry Christmas everyone.
Clodfobble • Dec 27, 2011 7:43 am
Mr. Clod was extremely clever and got me 5 dinners cooked and delivered by a personal chef (whom he selected based on his experience with organic and gluten-free cooking.) I get to call the chef after the holidays to plan the menu. And the meals are for a family of four, so it's really like 10 dinners!
Sheldonrs • Dec 27, 2011 9:08 am
I had a pretty good 4-day weekend for Christmas.

Friday: Drinks with friends
Saturday: Friend came over. Fucked him
Sunday: My ex came over. Spent a few hours hanging out watching TV
Monday: Knock on my door at 7:30am. Another friend. Swapped blow jobs. Did laundry afterwards. Then took a nap.

:D
