last one, I promise

I saw this on a website and thought it was funny. The police are so nice around here they even return lost cocaine if you go to the barracks to claim it.

Don't make promises you know you won't keep!! God might become angered and get the lightning bolt out of the safe again ...
Griff • Jan 3, 2003 5:40 pm
Maybe they think we hillbillies are dumb enough to go claim it?
wolf • Jan 3, 2003 5:44 pm
That kind of nonsense often works in the flatlands. If they were really criminal masterminds, they wouldn't get caught with such regularity ...

What I wonder is, if the bozo DOES show up at the barracks to claim it, and the predictable thing happens, will his lawyer try to get him off on the basis of entrapment?

Is that article from the Wylusing Rocket, notorious perveyor of mountain lion stories?

I don't know. The last ML story I heard about was over a year ago. A good friend lives out there and he said that one of the locals had photos of ML prints and the actual animal (most likely in the same blurry style that Bigfoot photos have been taken). He also said that the state was looking into the possibility of the MLs populating the remote areas via sponsoring some studies.

To many in the Wyalusing / Mehoopany area the existence of the cat is a big deal. I dont know why, maybe they think they will be able to hunt them eventually. As far as I know there hasnt been any livestock lost or attacks against people.

I know three folks who claim to have seen one near here. One source is iffy because of a tire iron adjustment to the head, another is an old guy I don't know well enough to say so, while the third gave birth to me so a grain of salt would be appropriate.

A guy in Rushville (?) recently had coyotes tear up some calves in his barn while his hired man was right there so if we're worried about bold predators, its a bit late. Big cats do have a way of unnerving folks though... I wonder if there's a pistol light enough to mountain bike with that'd stop a cat? Be quite an adrenalin rush to try to out-pace a lion on a bike though.

I dont know if a cat would actually attack a human. Then again I would feel a lot better knowing I could defend myself if one did.

Is a Glock light enough to mountain bike with? The 10mm is powerful enough (in my opinion) to stop a cat cold. A coupla Hydrashoks (with Draino inserted into the hollow portion , then sealed with wax) should do it.

A derringer chambered for .410 would also seem reasonable.

Thats a good question though, I dont equip myself to fend off cats. The 12 guage would be my first choice, but they tend to be a bit cumbersome riding a bike.

Shit...that was my coke.

Hey Slang, could you do me a favor? I need you to pick something up for me at the police station...
slang • Jan 4, 2003 1:18 pm
It couldnt have been yours. I went there to claim it and state cop said someone had just picked it up. Or was it that they just picked someone up?

One of the two anyway.

Lets hear it for the Taylor meat packing plant and the fine people that cut up all of our chickens and turkeys (while using coke).

That moonshine's got a mean kick today, eh?

Well, no wonder I didn't feel sleepy after Thanksgiving dinner!

A little cokeshine, a little moon.....I get all confused.

Totally unrelated but wolf asked about Robert Packer a while back. There are other options if you guys are in the northern part of Bradford County you can hop on rt 17 (future I86) and hit the Binghamton area. They have a couple hospitals and various MSW (I'm assuming thats your degree?) opportunities like Catholic Charities the Bing Psych Center... I don't know whats happening for work right now but you can watch for jobs at www.binghamtonhelpwanted.com

I know a few that are! Notice the intentional trickery of the phrase "suspected cocaine".

So when I went to claim it, I was trying to claim that little packet of confectionary sugar, NOT the cocaine.

I know what you mean, every year I hold my breath wondering if the Nothern Tier is gonna get its Darwin Award winner. There are a lot of snow covered ponds right now, its only a matter of time and opportunity.
