classicman • Nov 6, 2011 7:23 pm

I'm excited to hang my beautiful handmade gift from last year though. :)
limey • Nov 6, 2011 8:17 pm

I would like to participate, will bust into the piggy bank if I have to do overseas shipping ...
BigV • Nov 6, 2011 11:25 pm
I'm in, globally.
Nirvana • Nov 6, 2011 11:45 pm
I am in :)
SamIam • Nov 6, 2011 11:49 pm
I'm in but it will have to be someone in the US.
limey • Nov 7, 2011 4:59 am
We have to be quick if posting overseas is included. Hayulp! We need somebody well organised ...
Clodfobble • Nov 7, 2011 8:31 am
Sadly I have to be out this year, so I will organize (unless monster really wants to do it for some reason, but I'm betting not :).)

If you want to participate, PM me by Friday, November 11th with:

1.) Your name/mailing address
2.) Whether you can ship international or need to stay local
3.) Three things you like, Three things you don't like

Number 3 does not need to be specific gift requests (unless you want,) we're just looking for themes to assist here. For me, I would put

Likes: Green, metal, comedy
Dislikes: Purple, cutesy, gluten

Also, not to be callous, but we've been burned by newbies more than once in the past, so I think we need to say that anyone who has been here less than three months should enjoy the love vicariously, and be strongly encouraged to participate next year.

Happy holidays!
limey • Nov 7, 2011 8:33 am
Thanks Clod - that's brilliant!
Lola Bunny • Nov 7, 2011 10:02 am
Thanks Limey for the thread. I thought it was getting late also, but I didn't want to bring it up with Pam around. She scared me.

Clod: I agree with the noob rule. :)
BigV • Nov 7, 2011 10:04 am

If you want to participate, PM me by Friday, November 11th

This is done.
Sundae • Nov 7, 2011 10:13 am
Actually, no for once :(

I already have cards I'd like to send overseas, and something small for Sarge's collection of daughters, so I can't overstretch myself.
I feel bad if I don't send something significant as a Secret Santa.

Still, I get to see everyone else's fun, so I can't be too sorry.
And I am going to see Dani and Limey, so who can grumble at that?
limey • Nov 7, 2011 10:23 am
Don't feel bad, SG. You are being Santa, just not in secret! I'm sure Big Sarge will deliver the goods photo-wise in terms of happy recipients, gifts and love appreciated!
And, you ARE going to see Dani and ME (ME!!) soon, so who can grumble at that!
monster • Nov 7, 2011 1:40 pm
thanks fobble. i would but I'm happy not to :D

I'd go for 12 month with the noobs, though. And maybe a certain number of posts. but I'm a big old meanie.
bluecuracao • Nov 7, 2011 1:54 pm
I'm going to have to skip this year, but I'll probably (hopefully) join back in next year.
Lola Bunny • Nov 8, 2011 2:53 pm

BigV • Nov 11, 2011 12:58 pm
any reason you can't post the list so far?

Or.. dunno. has the list ever been published? You could use it as a promotional tool. Whatever. I'm just curious. Thanks again Clodfobble for doing this.
Sundae • Nov 11, 2011 2:20 pm
SECRET, babba.

That's all I have to offer.

How about purple?
zippyt • Nov 12, 2011 12:58 am
nerple !!
Clodfobble • Nov 12, 2011 9:09 am
Secret Santa recipients have been sent out!

Let me know immediately if a change needs to be made for any reason, or if anyone else wants to be added late to the list (we have a couple of dwellars who volunteered to give an extra gift if things didn't work out evenly, and several potential recipients who would have liked to be in but couldn't afford it this year, so there are many ways to squeeze you in. The Christmas Force is strong here.)

Have fun shopping!
Clodfobble • Nov 14, 2011 12:29 pm
Oh, I forgot to mention: please PM me when you have shipped your package, so we know how many are in the air and how many are still waiting or, heaven forfend, having delivery issues. Thanks!
wolf • Nov 14, 2011 12:49 pm
I am very excited!
BigV • Nov 14, 2011 12:55 pm
I'm very excited too!

So... themes? Spending limits, upper and or lower?
Sheldonrs • Nov 14, 2011 2:45 pm
I've already ordered the stuff I'm sending. Now I just have to get it to me and then over the ocean. :-)
limey • Nov 14, 2011 5:15 pm
And I'm very excited, too!
Aliantha • Nov 14, 2011 6:39 pm
I am getting my recipients gift today. :) It will be in the mail by the end of the week!
Clodfobble • Nov 14, 2011 6:47 pm
We have a special request from a Dwellar who is not participating this year but would really love to receive Christmas cards from around the country and the world if possible. If you are interested in sending a Christmas card (they specified they didn't want gifts, just a whole lot of cards,) PM me and I'll send you the address.
classicman • Nov 14, 2011 9:49 pm
Sorry I missed the deadline - I'll mail a card, I guess.
Lola Bunny • Nov 14, 2011 11:09 pm
Sending already? I thought we should wait til December, at least. :p: Well, I'm a bit excited too. I've got ideas for the gift. :D
monster • Nov 14, 2011 11:55 pm
Angry Bird Cookies are your only option.....
classicman • Nov 15, 2011 12:03 am
Thanks Clod. :)
Aliantha • Nov 15, 2011 12:29 am
When you're sending OS it might take a little longer. That's why I'm hoping to get mine in the post in the next few days.

Unfortunately, i think it'll be next week now cause I've had to order one of the things online and have it posted to me which probably wont get here till early next week. Anyway, not too bad, and should still get there before xmas if I get cracking once it arrives. :)

I'm so slow on the uptake sometimes... I read and reread your post Ali and to me OS was your local pronunciation of "Oz". Nope. OverSeas. I get it. Eventually.

Stuffs iz ordered!
limey • Nov 21, 2011 3:01 pm

Aliantha • Nov 21, 2011 5:01 pm
My gift to send to my recipient is still to arrive. I ordered it from one place only to receive an email YESTERDAY! The day I was expecting it to ARRIVE! Saying they're out of stock, sorry we'll give you a refund. I tells ya. If it wasn't christmas, I'd give him a refund they wouldn't forget too soon!!!

Anyway, hopefully the new one I've ordered will be here in a couple of days.

Sorry to my recipient, but I'm trying to get something I think you personally will really like. :)
BrianR • Nov 22, 2011 1:39 pm
My gift has arrived and will be mailed off this week, in plenty of time for the holiday.

My gift that I want to send over the Pacific still hasn't arrived here yet. I fear my recipient is not going to have their pressie before the big day. :(

eta: Because I think a lot of my recipient, I'll be doing my utmost to try and make sure it does though. I might have to go and stick it on a plane myself even!!!

Yeah, am not really sulking. Just indulging myself in a little regret for not joining in the funsies.
I knew buying and posting would have been a stretch, so I can't be a misery. And I get my Christmas treat in 23 days!

Still have to get my Secret Santa for school. At least there's no postage costs for that. But the Christmas Staff Room Buffet is £4. Ridiculous. I swear there will be leftovers equalling £20.
We paid £1 for jacket potatoes the other week - I wonder where the extra money went?
zippyt • Nov 26, 2011 2:50 am

Gas , delivery fee ,,, etc,,,,,,

I used to do the same thing Back in the day ,
But my taco bell order shouldnt have been over $3 , and I gave you a 5 ???
Sorry dude Gas cost !
Sundae • Nov 26, 2011 3:07 am
Thing is, it was organised by a Teaching Assistant who bought them in a local supermarket. She's a good person, so I don't suspect her of scamming us. It's just odd. She supplied butter as well as margarine, but when I went to look for it in the fridge yesterday it had gone. Now I'm pretty much the only butter eater in the staffroom, so someone's taken it home.

I think the office suggested she donated the extra money towards the Christmas buffet, rather than having to track everyone down to refund them 40-50p.

Note to self - take containers for leftovers on 14 December!

Or they finished it.

Margarine-eaters go for the butter at every opportunity.
Sundae • Nov 29, 2011 7:23 am
True dat.

She did admit that the reason she didn't buy butter at home was because her boys would eat it. Copious amounts of it, on any available comestible. When she buys spread they use only what they need.

The staff fridges are stuffed with Flora and Clover.
I imagine someone came across the butter and simply laid into it, eating it off the foil with a wooden spoon.

Where is Arthur C Clarke when you need him?
Oh yes, still dead.

wolf • Nov 29, 2011 7:17 pm
It's not like you guys can say, "Well, let's meet in the middle, shall we?"

It would be like me going to see BigV and then swinging around to visit Elspode.

(I'm on the East Coast, BigV is on the West, and 'spode is in the middle)

At least Australians understand the concept of vastness. Although you have more big empty than we do.

I just happen to live within an hour of undertoad, classicman, jimhelm, richlevy, steve dallas, bruce, blue curacao, spexxvet and a couple of other folks I'm sure I'm forgetting to mention. Heck, there's a couple in that list that I've not managed to meet yet.
Aliantha • Nov 29, 2011 8:10 pm
Yes that's true. It's about 20hours drive to where Zen lives from here. About the same to Sandypossum's place (from what I can gather from her posts) and Ducky used to live a fair way away, but she's only 4 hours drive now, which is really not much by Australian standards. Actually, probably closer to 5 from here, but who's counting. lol

Pico I am so sorry. I have no idea why your package was sitting in Jersey City for 8 days. Hopefully you will be getting it by Christmas.

In any case, I have heard stories about people whose packages go through the mail and who find extra/missing stuff in them.

So in order to prepare you, I am going to list the top 10 unexpected items you might find in a package that has been sitting in a postal warehouse in Jersy City for 8 days.

10. A complete set of Jersey Shore collectible mugs. Hang onto the rare Vinny Guadagnino.

9. A 2008 New York Giants Superbowl Champions sweatshirt. There's 999,999 more of these babies gathering dust somewhere.

8. A 2008 Giuliani for President bumper sticker. Nice try, Rudy.

7. A 2012 Giuliani for President bumper sticker. Shhhhh! It's a secret.

6. An 8 track tape of Sinatra's Greatest Hits

5. The missing veil from Shaquille O'Neal's wedding dress

4. A Statue of Liberty commerative keychain with a missing chain.

3. A matchbook from 'Bada Bing!'

2. 1/2 of a Six Flags admission ticket

1. Jimmy Hoffa
BigV • Dec 23, 2011 12:59 am
whoa. that picture belongs in the wtf thread.
anonymous • Dec 24, 2011 9:43 am
At least I hope so.

I like how they bumped the expected delivery date up by a week. It's like, "Yeah, we meant to do that all along".

Right.:right:
Pico and ME • Dec 24, 2011 10:13 am
Yay!! I just checked on it too.

I was totally amazed that it sat in Exton for 8 days, sort of like it got misplaced or something...or maybe it was deemed suspicious? Does this happen to all your packages?? ;):D
