Dallas Mavericks

I know a couple of you regular dwellars are locals in Texas, so this question is really for you.

As you know, I have a son named Maverick, and lately he's really wanted to get his hands on a Maverick's cap, mainly because there's never anything with his name on it, sooooo, what's the cost of buying a cap over there, rather than me paying the $30 - $40 I see them online for? Are they cheaper locally and if so, would anyone be willing to buy one and post it to me?

I would be your humble servant for, well, a little while anyway. ;)

take your pick here ...
I'd do it, but my situation just won't allow right now.
Aliantha • Oct 25, 2011 10:33 pm
Yeah, they want to charge $35 for shipping, and the hat is only $27. I just don't see why it'd cost that much to ship a freaking hat. I'm willing to pay for the hat and a reasonable amount of postage, but I don't think that's reasonable. Do you?
classicman • Oct 25, 2011 10:39 pm
What will it cost me to ship it to you? Heck, I can do that.
Aliantha • Oct 25, 2011 10:56 pm
I would think slow mail would be about $10 tops. Not sure though. I'm thinking if it comes in a box, you just take it out of the box, put it in some brown paper and strap it up with tape or whatever, then it should weigh less.

I don't know. It's probably not worth it. I might see if I can find an NBL (?) outlet over here.

NBA

Let me know. I'm not in, nor near TX, so I'd have to order it. The stores I know of won't have it around here.
Aliantha • Oct 25, 2011 11:11 pm
lol...thanks Nirvana. That will help. I don't know too much about US sports.

classic, I don't want to put anyone to too much trouble, so don't worry. Maybe Flint or Clod might have some ideas. Or does mtp live in Texas too? I know there are a few around there who might have easy access to Mavericks stuff. :)
Clodfobble • Oct 26, 2011 6:37 pm
There must be a place to buy Dallas Mavericks stuff around here, but I honestly wouldn't know where to go. I'll look around and see if I can find a place. Shipping costs aside, there's no reason a hat should cost $27 freaking dollars. Surely it must be cheaper locally? I'll get back to you.
Aliantha • Oct 26, 2011 6:40 pm
Thanks Clod. :) As I mentioned earlier, there's no huge urgent rush or need. It's not intended as a xmas present or anything. Just if i can get my hands on one for considerably less than $50 I'll be happy. xx
Clodfobble • Oct 26, 2011 7:07 pm
Well if you really don't care how long it takes, it looks like I can ship it for as little as $3.46, but they won't commit to any timeframe for delivery at that price. I suspect it would probably be something like 3-4 weeks. The next step up is $14 with a delivery expectation of 6-10 days.

It does look like the hats are still about $25 locally. Can you link to a picture of the exact one you want? There are like a dozen different Mavericks hats online...
Aliantha • Oct 26, 2011 7:30 pm
Probably something like this

The $3 would be fine because I really don't care how long it takes to get here. It's just a little something I want to get for him as a reward for the changes he's made in his attitude and the effort he's been putting in around here lately. So, I knew he really wanted a hat with his name on it and he'd shown it to me and asked, knowing I'd say no, if I'd get him one. I think it'll be a nice surprise, and one he wont forget for a while.

So, how can I get the money to you clod. Do you have a paypal account at all?

A big HUGE thankyou to Clod goes out from us all here. Mav's hat arrived in the mail on Friday afternoon just before we left to go to my Dad's for the weekend!

I was picking the boys up from school and we were leaving straight from there, so I put it in the car for Mav to open on the way. His face was just a picture of delight when he finally got the very well packaged gift opened. It was soooo worth the (very little) effort from me and I appreciate the help from you Clod. More than you can imagine. If there's ever any little thing I can do for you, I am in your debt.

Lots of love from all of us. xxx

ps. Mav is going to create an account here after school today and send you his thanks in person. :)
Clodfobble • Nov 13, 2011 10:07 pm
Can we see a picture? :) If he's shy, that's okay too. You're very welcome, and I'm glad he likes it!
Aliantha • Nov 13, 2011 10:30 pm
I'm sure he'll let me take a pic. he'll be home from school soon, so we'll do it then. :) I should have taken a pic on the weekend. He didn't take it off his head. Even tried to sit it on the dinner table next to him, and he wouldn't let anyone else wear it!

Definitely a winner. :)

Aliantha • Nov 14, 2011 12:19 am
I caught him in the midst of raiding the pantry for food after school.

Incidentally, he wore his new hat to school today too.

He didn't get a chance to create an account here yesterday. I think he might be a bit shy. lol He's got footy training this arvy, so maybe later tonight I can work him up to it.
classicman • Nov 14, 2011 11:57 pm

Aliantha • Nov 15, 2011 12:12 am
Yeah, why not?
Maverick • Nov 15, 2011 12:45 am
Thank you Clod! :) Your generosity has been a blessing as well as your investment of time. Thank You very much.
classicman • Nov 15, 2011 1:33 am
just wonderin
Clodfobble • Nov 15, 2011 6:05 pm
Aw shucks, you're very welcome Mav! It was fun to send. Did your mom get the other little trinkets in the box?
Aliantha • Nov 16, 2011 3:01 pm
Yes I did Clod. I'm going to bake some cookies (maybe even today) and take a pic, and the sticker is lovely too, but it has a spelling mistake, so we're not sure if we should put it where others can see it. ;)

Those couple of extra things were a really lovely thought Clod. :) Such a nice surprise. xx
Clodfobble • Nov 16, 2011 5:44 pm
Oh good! I know it wasn't wrapped very elegantly, so I was afraid it might have gotten tossed with the packaging. I didn't even think about the spelling, that's hysterical. :)
Aliantha • Nov 16, 2011 6:04 pm
Yeah, it was pretty funny. We had a good chuckle over you silly merkins...printing all those stickers with a typo...don't you guys do proofs etc...lol We had fun with it for while. :D
