I wish I had taken a pic. of it.. the sign has been taken down now...but in a public car park in s.w. England.. attached to the public toilet mens room outside wall there was a sign
"No Ball Playing"

I had to have that sign explained to me every summer.
We didn't see it in Aylesbury, but it was everywhere in London.

Same as the painted over sign for Slipper Baths outside the Borough Arms.
And the joke about getting down from an elephant.

The memory of these confusions helps me deal more patiently with children who are genuinely confused by something they understood yesterday.

Bill Stickers needs help, not condemnation.
