It's just one thing after another.

Today in Philadelphia, we had...

- Philly-area native Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett announcing divorce;

- an earthquake that scared the shit out of me and my cat...

- ...followed by an opportunistic armed robbery on the other side of town;

- the death of Joey Vento, cheesesteak mogul, of a massive heart attack;

- predictions that Irene could hit the Philly area as a Category 3 hurricane;

- and a report that the Smith-Pinkett divorce rumor is false.

I'm sorry, but this was all just too much excitement for one city to bear. Tell me, how newsworthy was your day?
Aliantha • Aug 23, 2011 10:39 pm
Most notable thing to happen here today was that Max and I tried out the new harrisa spice mix on some lamb strips for wraps for lunch.

It was very good though. Quite happy with that purchase.

Earthquake i didn't feel

AND THE NEW PUMP ARRIVED FOR THE POOL!!!!

Unfortunately nothing that happens at the pool will ever be newsworthy because the pool prez is the News director of the local press so has a "conflict of interest" Ok, so this wasn't genuinely newsworthy, but many things are and we can't get coverage because....

Yesterday I was on the radio.
Then Colonel Gadafi's compound was surrended to the Rebels.

Coincidence?

I didn't feel the quake either but some Daytonians did. For some reason, the prevailing feeling was "Was that an earthquake or am I going crazy?" Craziness and earthquakes being tightly linked, you know.

I'm sorry about ur cheesesteak guy, but you all must have seen that one coming. Cheesesteak=death via heart attack. It's not really rocket science.

No, no, that's homosexuals.

Craziness and homosexuals?
ZenGum • Aug 24, 2011 9:27 am
I just knew that the next post would say that. It didn't matter who it was.
Sundae • Aug 24, 2011 10:42 am
I'm pleased to have obliged.

It does make we wonder how busy Sheldon's been lately, to have caused all this fuss!
ZenGum • Aug 24, 2011 8:20 pm
Maybe he has been cloned.

Behold, the four Sheldons of the apocolypse!
Sundae • Aug 25, 2011 6:27 am
Brandishing their four weapons...
ZenGum • Aug 26, 2011 8:24 am
Well, famine shouldn't be a problem, but I'm a bit worried about the pestilence.
Sundae • Aug 26, 2011 8:37 am
Well thinking about it, Jews and homosexuals will bring about the end of the world.
Think of all those on the West coast.
Sheldon seems to have tipped the scales to the EAST coast, possibly single handedly.

Earthquakes and now hurricanes?

What's next? The moon will fall from the sky, seas boil, mountains fall. Fire, flood and disaster. Gaddafi hanged, Dolly Parton lose her voice, Lord Lucan found, Donny Osmand lose his teeth.

Do you want to tell him or shall I?
No wait - I want more photos before he becomes celibate for the good of mankind.
Clodfobble • Aug 27, 2011 3:08 pm
It's ironic for a geographically-illiterate person such as myself to be pointing out another's errors, but I have to tell you that Arizona (where Sheldon hails from) is nowhere near the east coast. It shares a border with California.

Unless maybe he's currently on holiday in North Carolina.
wolf • Aug 27, 2011 3:20 pm
Don't worry about it. She's from England, which is of course, part of Ireland and shares a border with the former Yugoslavia.

U.S. Geography confuses most Americans, much less Europeans.

On the other hand, we have an easier time learning history, having less than 300 years to really worry about, and only 44 leaders to remember. Although, our leaders do not have cool names like theirs. Chester Alan Arthur doesn't hold a candle to Aethelwulff, Aethealbald, Aethelbehrt, and Aethelred. Or Aethelstan the Glorious. The less said about Aethelred the Unready, the better ...

I am humbled before your huge tracts of land.

I'm afraid I only looked at Shel's joining date (once), and not his location.
I simply assumed he was one of the Founding Daddies and therefore East Coast.
Now I know AND UNDERSTAND his location, I will never credit earthquakes to him - unless in his specific area.
My complete bad - given the size of your country it's worse than suggesting CZ lives next door to Limey.

I bow my head.

I'm pignorant (Pig + Ignorant) re American geography, in that I know less than the average American. But I did study Migration Patterns in American History, so I (should) at least know the effect the Appalachians had on settlement (?)
And know the Eastern Seaboard.
And I read those important historical documents Children on the Oregan Trail and Little House on the Prairie (and NOT the TV series that was nice to everyone) the real book where they were so terrified of Indians they left their house behind...:)

Anyway.

I'm also reasonably cognisant of geography, and of course I'm here.
So I can picture the rough geography of the States.
Not up to American standards, but up to English Pub Quiz Standards at least!

Which still makes me completely pignorant compared to a 10 year old child.

Oh no dear. I guarantee you 100%, you know more American geography than the average American. You've read actual books, for starters. And you can bet your ass you know more European and world geography than me. It was never my intention to make you feel bad.
Sundae • Aug 28, 2011 7:34 am
I didn't really feel bad.
I just had keyboard diarrhea last evening.

The Evening News from Gravdigrville:

My ass itched.

I scratched it.

That's the news for this month.

Literally.

Midday Wednesday News from Sundae:

I'm trying Diz on a new type of cat litter.
I brought it home on the bus.

Thank you and good afternoon.

Midday-Midweek News from Dana:

I have run out of sugar.
My coffee is not sweet.

That is all.

Hump-Day Herald from Bri:

I'm out of money already. But that won't stop me (mwha ha ha ha ha!) because I'm gonna go slide around on benefits for a while - live the good life I keep hearing so much about! IPhone store - look out! (also, I imagine i'll be purchasing a new car today so...)
DanaC • Aug 31, 2011 8:24 am
Don't forget to get yourself artificially inseminated with triplets whilst you're at it.
Sundae • Aug 31, 2011 8:26 am
For some reason I read artificially as accidentally.
Oh God, I hope that didn't happen to me accidentally!

Dreamed of you the other night, Dani.
We were eating tapas.
DanaC • Aug 31, 2011 8:26 am
OOoooh. I like tapas.

Did we have patatas bravas? Oh please say we did.
Sundae • Aug 31, 2011 8:29 am
It was the big tapas I had in Amsterdam. No patatas bravas.
But lots of things on bread. Yumyum.

I think it might have been in Amsterdam (although really in London) because I've read a series of books that Mum got out of the library that were all written by women but where pretty much all the women ended up on drugs and/ or as prostitutes.

Nice reading Mum, thanks.

Anyway it's given me a series of prostitute related dreams.

Hmm... tropical storm Katia sorta looks familiar.

Well that sounds fun.

If it was my dream there'd probably be wampires. Or zombies. Zombie wampires probably. And aliens. And at some point i'd probably end up trying to drive a stolen vehicle the wrong way down the motorway.

Ugh, I hope the water temp cools off just enough to stop that thing.
