My Pandora 1 subscription is up next month.

should i switch to spotify?

People prefer each one for different reasons. I personally love Spotify and could never get into Pandora much, because I'm really picky and want to listen to only things I select.

I'm with UT here.

Pandora is great for exploring new music. Spotify is great when you know what you want to listen to. Pandora was my gateway for Rap, Hip hop, and Techno.

So, spotify doesn't find new stuff for you? You have to make your own playlists?

does anyone have the premium spotify version?

is internet radio an option? xiph maintains a directory of stations.
I use streamtuner2 to pick interesting stuff to listen to (it also gets shoutcast which is pretty popular), its still buggy but i think there's something like it for windows.

i have some friends who still use last fm to good effect. its pretty similar to pandora.

I am paying the $9.99 for premium Spotify and I love it. I don't make playlists, I listen to individual albums, that's just how I prefer.

Check out grooveshark.com.

I just coughed up my $36 and renewed Pandora. Spotify is interesting, but it's not automatic enough for what I do with it. I want new stuff to just play, and Pandora does a really good job of it.

I'll use the free spotify when there's a song I just have to hear right this minute.

One cool thing about spotify is that you can search for a song, and then hear like ... a bunch of different versions.

grooveshark is pretty cool too.

I have a 15 song playlist on spotify, but when i share it to facebook, it only shows 4 songs. anyone know why this might be?

No idea. Does the same thing happen when you email the URL?
jimhelm • Jul 10, 2012 5:33 pm

last.fm just went to a subscription only format for $3 a month. I was using the fire.fm extension, which was great because the music would automatically start when my browser started. I liked being able to specify a song on Pandora instead of a just a band, which is what last.fm is limited to.

I got 15 tracks when I opened it. I dunno. I'd just blame Facebook.
