Riddle me this, haiku man!
What am I? Haikus:
"What am I?" Haiku. These act like a riddle. The writer uses the Haiku to describe something.
The reader tries to guess what the guess what the poet was describing after reading the Haiku.
So, in this thread
1. WRITERS: posts a haiku
2. READERS: CUT AND PASTE the Haiku in their thread and try to guess
what the person is describing
3. WRITERS: try to acknowledge the right answer. cut and paste it into your congrats post
4. WRITERS : can add other Haiku's to be guessed at any time
I’ll start:

your house is our home

As to yours, I'm thinking of the old "if a tree falls in the woods and there's no one to hear it..."
Now I would say lipstick or make-up brush.
But you say "people" not "laydees"
I will keep guessing.
Brush has to be part of it thanks to the clever use of bristle.

Actually, I'll take make-up brush because it fits the riddle just as well...I was thinking of a paintbrush.

Today's carry-over riddlekus are

Clue: they hurt your feet.
Clue: we're going to have an argument about whether it is a countable or uncountable noun.
Clue: you probably have some in your house.
U2 band
Ooh, I'll have to check with the referee ....
...
... yes, we'll take that, although the exact answer is just U2 (the first line refers to the spy plane, the second to the band, the third to the text abbreviation). DING.
something to do with the Fibonacci numbers or spiral ?
It is indeed the Fibonacci sequence, only jumbled up. I thought that would be easy. I guess I'm a nerd.
Shoe Picture
Nope, but darn good try.
The eight points are in two rows of four.
That's LEGO you silly American. ;)
Ding.
Now what are you going to make with just a single Lego? That's just crazy talk. You need a bin of Legos to really make something.
If you give a man a lego, he can make a shoebox. If you teach a man to buy a bunch of legos, he can make a shoestore.

DING.
See here...I just re-watched the first Jackson/Travolta scenes of Pulp Fiction.
I was thinking about Pulp Fiction, because they have that needle scene. And now that you mention it, Samuel Jackson swears a lot. I seem to remember a fighter. Yeah, Bruce Willis was a fighter.
That has to be a DING!
Good one!
Yeah, Willis was a fighter who was supposed to go down in the 5th, or something. But he didn't. That's why "punchy" (Butch) was in so much trouble with Marsellus Wallace.
And most of the exchanges between Vincent and Jules were "fucking this fucking that." My favorite is what I think was a mistake but left in...when V and J are walking to Flock of Seagulls et al's apartment, arguing about why Marsellus pushed Tony Rocky Horror out of a fourth story window, and Vincent says "and Antwone should have fucking better known better..."
I've only watched it like 100 times or something.

Yeah, props to UT.
Confirmed.
"We just experienced a mother-#@$%ing miracle and I want you to mother#@$%ing acknowledge that!"
I have seen an abstract for a philosohpy seminar where Samuel L Jackson was referred to as "an icon of contemporary negritude".

Not eclipse, but you're quite close. And it starts with an E.
Everything starts with an E

Ooh, very close. It went by about two weeks ago.

Haha, nope. Clever, but way off.
Oh and that is a haiku clue to the previous haiku about the wooly twins.

Even with the clue, I'm not touching that one...
Haha, it does sound kinda dirty! But it isn't. It is most definitely not dirty in any sense.

You're on track with two of the same kind of thing; but, they're out of this world.
(Wizard of) Oz and Australia.
You got the gist of things being fictional; however, the Cellar Brits would be more keen on the subject than the Aussies.

Superman and Dr Who in a phone booth ?
You're almost there! The clue "home sweet home" refers to
places of origin. I emboldened
Dr. Who when earlier quoting you to redirect you beyond the people/characters (Dr. Who is the story, the lead character is simply the Doctor). Congrats so far on seeing the story parallels and going for both of the possible answers, either one of which solves the riddle.
This one has stagnated; so, here are two answers either one of which works:

Gallifrey
Covered in red grass.
The last child of
Gallifrey (the Doctor).
Gone from the present, time locked during time war.
British Sci-Fi about a superior race on an alien
planet, lost to disaster, giving Earth a space and time travelling hero with other extraordinary capabilities.
Krypton
In the light of a red sun.
The last son of
Krypton (Superman).
Gone from the present, exploded.
American story about a superior race on an alien
planet, lost to disaster, giving Earth a space and time travelling hero with other extraordinary capabilities.

Sorry for not pursuing... I had nowhere near enough knowledge to penetrate those spheres.
(I did spend some time trying to put together the "red" as mortage forclosure, etc., but that got to be too silly even for me.)

Close, You are on the right track
Spencer Tracy?
(Thinking Captains Courageous for fish and fog.)
Right on Tracy, not Capt Couragous
ARGH.
So is it a movie, or an actor. It's NOT Spencer Tracy, or it IS Spencer but naught to do with Cap'n Courageous?
btw I LUVZ Spencer Tracy. He's right behind Gregory Peck in Dead Actors ILF. Seriously, he was brilliant.
And TRacy wasn't in A Bridge Too Far but he was in Judgment at Nuremberg. Which was the same war.
Yes, on a movie
Yes, Spencer Tracy
No on the movies you have named
Inherit the Wind?
Adam's Rib?
(I'm not even making associations, I'm guessing Tracy movies)
Not yet ;)
OK, here's a small hint: think "content" or "message"
Wait. The Old Man and the Sea?
One of my favorite movies, and even after having read the book.
You know, I've not seen it. I read the book too, but haven't seen the movie. (have been to Hemingway's house and his favorite bar in Key West too!)
Have you seen Captains Courageous? It's wonderful!
On Capt C, I don't think I've seen it... but this may just be a senior moment.
The book came out in the early 50's and my favorite aunt gave me a copy. It's still on my bookshelf.
In a different thread I've described the situation for my grandson.
We got him to read this book when things were bad, and it "took".
He started reading again and things have improved ever since.
