What are google analytics and why shouldn't I block them?

NoScript shows cellar.org, yahooapis.com, and google-analytics.com.

I believe that I had to allow yahooapis.com to get something to work. but what is the purpose of google-analytics.com?

Or are these being set by some toolbar or browser object and have nothing to do with the Cellar?

This site has never done anything with Yahoo and does not serve Google ads except on iotd and the archives. This one is on you.

Google analytics is a stats tracking tool. It lets the site owner know how much traffic is coming into the site, where it's coming from and how long people are spending on average. It doesn't include any private or specific user information.

yahoo apis could be ads or maps. Cellar.org should be obvious.

But I was thinking of the Cellar the whole time.
