lyme disease. less fun than a barrel of monkeys

footfootfoot • Jul 24, 2011 1:40 pm
Though I have no rash, I am 99% certain that I have Lyme disease and I'm taking Doxy for it. I'm waiting for the shit to kick in. I am getting a taste of what arthritis is like and it ain't pretty. Imagine being unable to button your shirt or pull up your zipper.
Now imagine that you are sober and you can't do those things.

fuck ticks and their shitty attitudes.
Griff • Jul 24, 2011 1:51 pm
My brother is fighting it as well. Beyond the physical pain the psychiatric effects can also be disabling. Stay on the drugs, my brother quit before his Dr. wanted him to and the bitch came right back. Make sure your Doc is experienced and up to date on this.
Trilby • Jul 24, 2011 3:43 pm
Oh, foot, sorry about this but sooooo glad you''re on the Doxy. Saw an Intervention about a chick who got alllllll messed up on pain killers due to undiagnosed Lymes. Hang tough and fuck a tick!
glatt • Jul 24, 2011 8:07 pm
Sorry Foot! I hope you get better quickly.
ZenGum • Jul 24, 2011 11:39 pm
Ugh. I might possibly have been exposed to Lyme when I had that tick on my gentleman's area in Japan. I saw some pictures on the net and decided, no way was that happening to my plums! Off to the doctor, despite the language difficulties. I took the dox, no sign of the pox!
HungLikeJesus • Jul 25, 2011 1:16 am
There once was a man named ZenGum
Who had a tick on his plum
He went to the docs
Now no sign of the pox
...

Oops, ran out of time.

... but a plague of zits on his bum!

Ticks...yet another indication that God does not exist.

Stay on the meds and get better soon 3Foot.

I am so very not happy that I cannot find a decent clip of Demetri Martin's Avengers skit. Remember, he became a superhero to avenge his father's death, then his mom finds out years later he actually died of lyme disease?

The Avenger was at his dad's gravestone and changed "Brutally Murdered by Thugs" to Brutally Murdered by Ticks, using a posty note with the word 'ticks' on it.

It's hilarious. I know it was posted before but all I can find now are crappy clips in 30 second intervals taped off the TV onto someone's smartphone.

But feet should remember it.

Hope you feel better soon, Foots

So sorry to hear Foot! I hope you'll feel better soon. How did you even know you had Lyme's disease?

I do, that was hilarious

Fever for 5 days, no respiratory or GI symptoms, arthritis like pains that roam all over my body not staying in one place more than a day or so, skull splitting headaches, living in a big fat tick hole.
Griff • Jul 25, 2011 8:40 pm
So you didn't get the bullseye? Lil' Griff should is at the walk-in right now to check out a damn bullseye thingy on her sternum...
HungLikeJesus • Jul 25, 2011 8:46 pm
Ringworm?

By the way, interesting verb conjugation, Griff.
Griff • Jul 25, 2011 8:51 pm
should is... I need wrote more or less ;)

Ticks sometimes leave a bullseye pattern when they bite.

icky
footfootfoot • Jul 25, 2011 10:30 pm
yeah, bullseye = lyme, no questions. Do not pass GO do not collect $200. Only about 50% of people get the bullseye, though. Lots of false negatives with the test as well.

Icky, yes but I'll take it over Ebola Zaire or Brown Recluse bites.

That sounds horrible. I hope you feel better soon.
Griff • Jul 26, 2011 6:35 am
Her bullseye was iffy. It could be a weird bruise but was close enough to order blood tests. No fever or other indicators as yet. The doc has identified 7 cases in the last 2 weeks.
footfootfoot • Jul 26, 2011 1:49 pm
It's very popular. All the kids are doing it apparently.
Spexxvet • Jul 27, 2011 10:12 am
When life gives you Lyme disease, make lime juice. Then make yourself a vodka gimlet.
Nirvana • Jul 31, 2011 2:20 pm
So guys get ticks on their plums and I got one on my boob. What must this tick have thought? Are you my Mommie?!
footfootfoot • Jul 31, 2011 6:46 pm
are you my Om Nom Nommie?
BigV • Aug 3, 2011 1:21 am
probably just a male tick, don't over think it.
Lola Bunny • Aug 4, 2011 1:10 pm
Are you feeling better, Foot?
footfootfoot • Aug 4, 2011 2:09 pm
Thanks Lola, The arthritis like stuff has gone and now I have intermittent splitting headaches and heart racing with near fainting spells. In other words,

Ouch!

Yup, I get how you're feeling (I haven't had Lyme disease but I did have some corking childhood illnesses).

Get better soon and all that.
And give any leftover vibes to Big Sarge, who is worrying my (and others) at the moment.

Kris Kristofferson’s Long-Undiagnosed Battle with Lyme Disease

...we suspect he’s been infected with Lyme anywhere from fourteen to thirty years...

Man, Lyme Disease is a bitch.:flipbird:
glatt • Jul 7, 2016 2:58 pm
I hate reading stuff like that. I'm outside all the time. Damn ticks.
xoxoxoBruce • Jul 7, 2016 3:52 pm
The biggest problem is even if the Doc is sure you have it, getting a positive blood test for it is very difficult to get. Without a positive test they can't legally give you antibiotics long enough to defeat it.
Pamela • Jul 7, 2016 6:15 pm
I recently had a tick bite get infected and I was spiking fevers and such. I got myself to a doctor, had the Lyme tests (forget which two) and both came back negative. The doctor thought I might have accidentally left some mouth parts or the head inside when I removed it and that's how I got infected.

Two weeks of Amoxycillin and I feel normal again but will have to watch myself for a year or so for Lyme symptoms, just in case.

Why do we have ticks again? I know flies and skeeters are food sources but what eats ticks?

Its a constant tick fight here. We're adding guinea fowl to the mix hoping to control numbers a little.
