Nut Story

I swear that this is true ... (ordinarily I might say something like "I swear to god(s) this is true," but I don't want this to turn into another existence of god thread ...)

Last night was extaordinarily busy. Like, overflowing the lobby busy. Like people in handcuffs waiting for an exam room busy.

It's not even a full moon night or anything like that (which isn't true anyway ... one of my coworkers had an article disproving the full moon correllation printed in Skeptical Inquirer. It just happens like this sometimes...)

So anyway, police bring this guy in for an emergency psychiatric evaluation. He had been fighting with his family.

Some years ago he'd suffered a brain injury and had a protective steel plate in his head. Well, some bone had apparently shifted, and he had to have the plate surgically reattached. And he was extra irritable as a result.

So, what it really comes down to is that he was brought to the mental hospital because he had a screw loose.

That made me laugh. :)

Strange, I thought headaches were caused by the screws being too tight ...

Me: Aging and Adult Protective Services, how may I help you?

Cop: Yeah, this is Officer (name obscured) from (ritzy neighborhood) Township PD.

Me: What's going on.

Cop: We got called out by this little old lady. She was complaining about the neighborhood children damaging her property.

Me: And you're calling Aging and Adult Protective Services, why?

Cop: Well, she told us that the kids come around her house every year, and they have this green spray. They spray it on the leaves of her trees, damaging them. It gradually turns them brown.

Me: The caseworker will be out to see her within the hour.

Giggle.:)

I'm glad they didn't bring 'em in because he was f---ing nuts....
