this IotD from 2002, in which
Freedom House, a group that promotes freedom and Democracy throughout the world, developed a map indicating roughly how free each nation is. He notes that they've updated it and here is the 2011 version. Green countries are free, yellow are semi-free and blue are unfree.
Could be out of date already: Thailand has just elected a new Prime Minister democratically, ousting the government that was installed by a military coup. I'd like to hope for the best and say Thailand is green now.
