Tomorrow is my first Silhouette Competition

I went to the range with the inchling and sighted in my scope. It's a cheap$30 Bushnell mounted on a Marlin 60. I was shooting Federal AutoMatch Ammo 1200fps 40gr.

It was kind of windy, about 8-12mph, I somewhat corrected for windage, but then I set it back to where it had been originally, and adjusted elevation for the 70yd target. I might need 4-6more clicks to bring it down. I figured the drift to the right was from the wind.

I need some better glasses. Even with a 4x scope I could barely see shit at 100yds, certainly could barely tell where I was hitting. For grins I set up a 200yd target and fired away it with no feedback about where I was hitting, I just tried to aim at the same spot and hoped for a tight group. I think it was something like 6", I have to find the target.

The inch was delighted at picking up brass and empty shotgun shells, I was pretty happy with my shooting, though I have no idea if a 6" group at 200yards with a .22 is anything to write home about.

I'll let you know how I do tomorrow.

Make sure you know what you want to be in focus. The sight, scope, and target will require unique powers.

Not bad for my first time!
I double checked the scope and after about 30 rounds I went to pull the bolt open and slid the scope along the dovetails!

snugged everything up, re-adjusted the scope, sighted in again, and got much tighter groups.

Then it was offhand shooting...
chickens at 40y, pigs at 60y, turkeys at 70y, and rams at 100y

The iron targets are friggin tiny. They could almost hide behind a playing card. So on my first round I got no chickens, 3 pigs, 2 turkeys, and a ram for a total of 6/40.

There were five of us shooting, I came in dead last. 4th place was 7/40, 3rd place was 18/40, 2nd 19/40, 1st place was 28/40. With iron sights, no less.

awesome fun
