Here is my humble offering for May 28th. This pooch helped find Osama bin Laden. A series of war dog pictures may be found here: http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2011/05/12/war_dog_ii?page=0,1&wpisrc=obinsite

I loved this bit from the article:

Above U.S. Army 1st Sgt. Chris LaLonde, center, holds his military working dog, Sgt. Maj. Fosco, while jumpmaster Kirby Rodriguez, behind them, deploys his parachute during the military's first tandem airborne jump with a canine from an altitude of 12,500 feet onto Gammon Parade Field on Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., on Sept. 18, 2009.

Ha!
He was actually in stealth flock protection mode. He padded off the deck in complete silence eased across the yard and sprinted down on the little bastard... but thankfully he was too slow for bloodshed. The chickens are gonna be under lockdown the next few days.

Is anyone else having trouble getting the part of the Image of the Day that contains the, uh, image?

"USSO"?

I also like this one of a Navy Seal War Dog wearing "doggles" as he waits to take the jump with his handler somewhere over Afghanistan. The dog's name is Rico. I wonder if he has the rank of Sgt. Major like Fosco does.

Cry "Havoc", and let slip the dogs of war!

Just not from 10,000 feet. Bad idea.
