I have a floor jack rated at 2 1/2 tons with a twelve inch reach. It is at your disposal. Surely this can raise a measly thousand pounds. How high do you have to raise it?

Right! Give that man a lever long enough and a firm place to stand and he'll rock your world. Or something like that.

You forget the firm place to stand. Or something.
I'm sure firm was in there somewhere.

The question was about liquidity. Some still some want something firm? When discussing liquidity, firm (as in frozen) means no money, no jobs, and no lenders. And no source for £1000 loans. Liquidity means nothing is firm. Even gold becomes fungible.
