Bikes in commercials of all media are being carried. If your male model can't ride a bike maybe he is a bad fit.

Curling is for iceholes.
jimhelm • Apr 11, 2011 5:53 pm
i think that's icefishing, hun
lookout123 • Apr 11, 2011 6:19 pm
If the icehole is big enough it might take care of that curling problem though.

My team are getting slaughtered :(
monster • Apr 11, 2011 8:58 pm
Dear complaints dept. Thx for the goal, but we really need at least another three and faster.
monster • Apr 11, 2011 8:59 pm
Dear complaints dept. I am impressed and pleasantly surprised by your efficiency, but they disallowed that one. We need three legal goals in the next 10 minutes. kthxbai

What happened? If it hits the post it's a point? I don't know a thing about soccer. Then the head bump to out of bounds? Was that in question too?
Spexxvet • Jul 6, 2011 8:43 am
If the non-goalie defender (in red) touches the ball with her hands in the box that's right in front of the goal mouth, it's a penalty. The other team gets a penalty kick:

The obvious penalty was not called.
infinite monkey • Jul 6, 2011 8:45 am
I see. Thanks Spexx!
Spexxvet • Jul 6, 2011 9:23 am
You're very welcome.:)
glatt • Jul 6, 2011 9:32 am
She picked the ball up so nonchalantly that I didn't even notice it. It was as if the play had stopped and she was just getting the ball.
ZenGum • Jul 6, 2011 7:59 pm
It should have been penalty kick to Australia and automatic red card for the defender. How all of the four match officials (this is the World Cup, people) missed it is beyond my comprehension. Good thing we won anyway.

Although there is a joke about "handling in the box" to be made here. :D
classicman • Jul 6, 2011 8:34 pm
Yes, there are four, two of them linesmen calling offsides and another just keeping time. The on-field ref is the only one who would have called that, right?
lookout123 • Jul 7, 2011 12:36 am
No. The linesman is tasked with spotting fouls on their half of the field and signaling to the referee. The referee has the authority to either act or ignore the linesman. I believe being the World Cup FIFA also has goal line referees who also should have spotted that.

Horrendous ref'ing that. Should have been a yellow and a PK.
ZenGum • Jul 7, 2011 1:42 am
Haha, I was wondering what you'd think of this.

Only yellow, though, for deliberate handball inside the box? I thought that was straight red, but I'll defer to you, oh Soccer-guru.
classicman • Jul 7, 2011 11:30 am
Thanks L123 - I didn't know the ref's responsibilities changed in the WC.
