Around here, you can't even adopt a dog from a good rescue organization without paying $500 for a fence and $200 in adoption fees. But in Wuhan, China, where they just kill strays outright, Li Zongwen has adopted the pack you see here.



They say he's a former chef, so he knows how to create a cheap meal for these beasts, but the crap output must be legendary, and the begging must be a serious ordeal.

And how come so many of them look alike? 140 dogs, and not one Golden Retriever or Great Dane or Dachsund?

I thought I was bad....what with my 15 dogs....

I dunno Sundae. Those dogs look happy and healthy and as pack animals by instinct large groups of dogs are often pretty happy pups.

Given that the alternative is no life at all...

Husband says too many! 4 Basenjis, 1 German Shep, 1 Sheltie mix, 2 min pin/pom mixes, 1 Jack Russell, 1 Chiweenie, 4 Chihuahua.......I work at a local animal shelter..hazardous duty!! :)

Oh and a Papillon mix...sorry Izzie.

I just have the one dog: Pilau. A bearded collie. Mad as a box of frogs but getting on a bit now.
