Gaga Madonna

Trilby • Feb 13, 2011 8:32 pm
I'm probably late to this but just heard Gaga's new song Born This Way. Madonna should sue - it's Express Yourself and Vogue! I mean - wow. very blatant rip off.

Anyone else feeling this?

I'm not familiar with any of the music but the Gaga thing has been a riff on Madonna all along.
glatt • Feb 13, 2011 9:27 pm
And now she's got Klingon forehead bumps in her acceptance speech.

This will be my last Grammy comment.

Bob Dylan sounds absolutely terrible.

all pop stars after Madonna are derivative because she pretty much defined the genre.

I hope I rock as hard at 67 as Mick.

All these "Artists" are only following the biggest current trend : ECOLOGY

Hence, the recycling...

I mean Express Yourself.

This is why coffee must be made.

I remember years and years ago, Letterman made a wry comment on his show: Do you think Madonna just likes to shock us? I don't remember what prompted the comment. Surely, Gaga's VaJayJay hanging out of her outfit is the same sort of thing (I didnt' watch the grammy's, turned it off when Christina Aguilera's big mouth opened up in the opening number, but saw a pic this morning) and it's all so boring to me. Yeah, show me what you got...MUSICALLY.

I hated Madonna when she arrived on the scene, not my cup of tea...seemed all flash and no substance. In later years, I came to appreciate her music for what it was, and acknowledge her savvy business sense. I'm not there with the Gaga yet.

I am happy for Best Song. A little trite maybe, but I love Lady Antebellum's harmonies, though I don't particularly care for today's "country music."

It's not a ripoff, it's a compliment.

Have you not heard these two modern pop songs, Tik Tok by Kesha and California Gurlz by Katy Perry....exact same rhythm, tempo, key, LOL whatever.

Oh, that's nothing new...sampling other songs. It's a bit different than two "modern pop songs" (released around the same time, I'm assuming, as I've not heard Kesha) sounding the same. A LOT of music these days sounds the same. Express Yourself was released a long time ago, wee one, maybe before you were born. Besides, I read Madonna thinks it's just fine.

There is nothing new under the sun.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go compliment the shit out of Aretha Franklin and do RESPECT with all new words...then I be rich and stuff. ;)

I think Madonna is just happy to be back in the news a little bit.

Then you've haven't lost IQ points. Kesha is a big heaping plate of shit for people who enjoy eating shit. Avoid at all costs.

Advice taken!

the difference between Lady Gaga and Madonna is that Gaga is a real musician. Madonna's a dancer--can she even play an instrument?

Her voice. Don't downplay vocalists.

Really? Even after all of this and more?

Oh and this. I'd be having some R&R and feeling pretty secure about Lady
Gaga

2008The Sticky & Sweet Tour broke many records in terms of its ticket sales, commercial gross and audience attendance. After the first leg, it became the highest grossing tour by a solo artist, earning $282 million, breaking the previous record Madonna herself held with her Confessions Tour. Overall, Madonna performed to over 3.5 million fans in 32 countries, grossing a total of US$408 million, making it also the fourth highest grossing tour of all time, only behind U2's U2 360° Tour, AC/DC's Black Ice World Tour and The Rolling Stones's A Bigger Bang Tour. It still remains the highest grossing tour by a solo artist. At the 2009 Billboard Touring Awards, the Sticky & Sweet Tour won the Top Tour and Top Draw prizes, which acknowledge the highest-grossing and highest-attended tours of the year, respectively. Madonna's manager Guy Oseary won the Top Manager award.

Wasn't this thread about a Beatles song?

Gaga Madonna, boy-toys at your feet,
Wonder how you manage to tame that meat.

Gaga Madonna, pointy leather breast,
Makes me wonder how you managed to breed the best...

Hey, we appreciate the Bee Gees and Olivia too!

We're very diversified here.

I wish stats like this were adjusted for inflation. In another few decades even mediocre tours will be breaking a billion, because it'll also cost $20 for a loaf of bread. I want to know who had more butts in the seats, total.
skysidhe • Mar 13, 2011 3:13 pm
Here is something on ticket prices, but I already knew that tickets were a luxury item, whereas, when I was I kid, I could pick berries for cash and go see a show for $7, AND have a seat!

I heard it and saw the video. It is actually quite good but with some similarities with Madonna's style.
