I had a thought.

Why don't we have a GTG at my place this summer. Like in August, we can eat Barbeque and tell lies and all kinds of fun things like that.
limey • Feb 10, 2011 7:11 pm
Don't forget to film it for us faraway folks!
plthijinx • Feb 10, 2011 10:32 pm
and not a bad thought. if i can get people along the way, no more than 4, depending on what kind of plane i can rent and everyone chip in for the rental......that would be a fun errr road trip via highways in the sky...

A frickin' airplane ride to a barbecue? Wow!1
plthijinx • Feb 11, 2011 2:07 am
it is feasible. all i ask is that people that would like to be picked up along the way throw in a couple hundred bucks each for fuel and rental....

BrianR • Feb 13, 2011 11:22 am
I'll stock up on the local currency (beer).

Fly to GVT or 6R6 (I'd pick 6R6 myself, smaller and lower fees) and call me. Bring fishing equipment if you want to try to catch some fish.

Usually. I haven't flown here yet so I can't be sure, but the usual thing is to waive landing fees if you fuel. Parking may be a different story at the larger airport. Some smaller airports let you have the transient ramp spot overnight before charging you. Others don't even notice or care. I once parked at an airport that must have had all of four planes there to wait out weather. No one even noticed I was there. In the morning, I continued on, no charge!

Tell me when you're coming and I will research the issue for ya.

alright. either airport is cool with me. whichever one is closer for you.
BrianR • Feb 14, 2011 7:59 pm
6R6 then. It's about fifteen minutes closer.
plthijinx • Feb 14, 2011 8:33 pm
100LL - $5.10/gal. freakin ouch.
BrianR • Feb 15, 2011 11:59 am
wow. just wow.

I miss my flying club. The same fuel cost me $2 a gallon after the MWR subsidy. It helps that the Navy uses that same fuel for some of their planes (C-20s?) and thus gets it in bulk cheaper.
fargon • Feb 15, 2011 2:03 pm
I am thinking that 20 Aug would be a good day to have this thing. For those of you who are flying in the La Crosse Municipal Airport is rite up the street there is a motel up the street also. The Days Hotel of La Crosse. Please PM me if you are coming so I will know how many people to plan on.
kerosene • Feb 17, 2011 6:55 pm
Damn, I think I am out of the way.

We need a rocky mountain regional gtg. There are several of us in this state, now, aren't there?
plthijinx • Feb 17, 2011 7:02 pm
that wouldn;t be bad either. i just need to start my freakin job so i can afford the flight.
