Magazines?
Do any of you still subscribe to magazines? I used to subscribe to a bunch - programming magazines, Time, Reader's Digest. The only magazine I get anymore is the Smithsonian.

Smithsonian, National Geographic, and Mother Earth News
National Geographic. The quality of the articles is astounding each issue. I will have a subscription till the day I die.
trade magazines, and Ornament. For everything else, I just surf. Sooo much better without all that clutter!
Reader's Digest (on Kindle), Atlantic (was free with a professional membership), Writer's Digest, Cincy Magazine, Dayton B2B, a couple "free" mags about marketing, Website Mag, Popular Mechanics for hubby and Teen Vogue for my daughter.
I love magazines, but don't buy any. Except I got a short subscription to Time from my cow orker's son's fundraiser. My mom also gives me her used Reader's Digests, which I love.
Time seems flimsier than it used to be.
Fine Woodworking became really dumbed down and repetitive, so I stopped it.
Make Magazine is too damn expensive, plus they published in their blog a few months ago the location of the free web based electronic version. I'd be a fool to purchase what they have as a free .PDF on the web.
The only magazine I get right now is SPIN, and that's only because it's being sent here in error. Somebody subscribed to it and put in the wrong address. So it comes to us for free. Ed Talpia, wherever you are, thank you.
For the most part, the good magazines I've received have all lowered their standards and are aiming for the lowest common denominator while at the same time raising their prices a lot and cutting the amount of content. I'd like to get a magazine, but they are all crap.

I don't subscribe to any these days. Everything I ever wanted to read/know/look up is on the internet. Research articles, opinions, medical journals, columns, jokes, photos, etc.
The only one I'd ever consider again is National Geographic.

I don't subscribe to any magazines, but I will pick up Real Simple from time to time from the grocery line. So much eye candy... Mmmm.
I subscribe to Whistleblower.
I occasionally buy Real Simple at the grocery store. Every couple of months I buy a Dell Crossword magazine. If something really catches my eye on the cover, I'll buy a Crochet magazine, but I have a stock of those big enough to keep me in stitches for years to come, just add yarn.
OH yeah, mom gives me her old Real Simples, as of late. I will also buy crossword puzzle mags IF they have cryptic crosswords in them, but those are really hard to find.
My mom once gave me a subscription to this smelling-their-own-farts urban-hippie magazine called Utne, which I could never even bring myself to crack the cover on. When the subscription finally ran out, they kept hounding me to renew, and calling at the most awkward times, until finally I shouted at the sales rep that I never liked their stupid magazine in the first place and hung up on her.
But my mother has since redeemed herself by bringing me the occasional issue of Living Without (allergen-free cooking stuff,) something I can actually use.
Healthy cooking magazine and Vegetarian times. No I am not a vegetarian.
I also like to buy Newsweek and Time, every once in a while.

I get Scouting magazine because I'm a registered adult in Boy Scouts.
That's it.
We used to get Arlington magazine but stopped because it was just all ads and really only about the Beautiful People in Arlington.

I'm an irregular subscriber to Scientific American.
Neither a Kindle or Ipad travel well on a bike. A magazine remains the best item to wrap around the crossbar. So that coffee can be sipped while reading numerous articles.
Besides, if it rains, I do not damage an electronic reader. Only get wet. If I visit the head, I need not worry about someone stealing a magazine. Besides, many do not want to read The Economist, IEEE Spectrum, or articles on advanced finance.

We get New Scientist and just subbed to Time because Eldest needs access to the online archives for the AP Gov class and the paper copies and a weather clock come free, apparently :lol: (found a $15 sub offer for a year.
