For some random reason, I have wandered back to this old haunt of mine from many many moons ago. I have many good memories of posting here and arguing with the many Cellar dwellers. Reading around the threads, it is good to see the many familiar names still here.
Some years ago, I drifted by to rejoin the Cellar once again with the handle Number 2 Pencil, though I didn't say at the time that I was Slartbartfast, I was sort of feeling around to see how things were.
Reading my old posts as Slarti is quite interesting, it is amazing how much I have changed and how much stays the same.
I'm think I'm going to hang around here again, though I will be posting as Number 2 Pencil now. Slarti is the old me, and I never did like that moniker much.
Hi once again Cellar!
Hello again everybody!
I wonder if anyone even remembers me :)
Welcome back Slarti2. I remember.
I remember you too, welcome back!

Welcome back.
vBulletin is capable of doing actual strikethrough. Just use square brackets instead of angle brackets.
ETA And welcome back Slarti.
Yes, I do remember you, Slarti ... lovely fiords.

we all changed usernames too. I used to be dar512. pete'sataco used to be case, and kerosene used to be lumberjim.
just so you're not confused.

Brilliant! I'd assumed it was a vBulletin thing because it worked here.

Thank you, gentlemen, for the lesson and the extra work to make this possible.
I've heard that Number 2 Pencil is still the most popular.
[strike] How cool is this? I think I'll always post like this from now on. Maybe big and in red too. Fun, a new toy![/strike]

I'm lost. Adrift in Americam pop culture references again, I suspect.
There's typos in that version. This link has a cleaner copy and an audio of the poem by De Wolf Hopper:
http://www.baseball-almanac.com/poetry/po_case.shtml
When William De Wolf Hopper performed the poem at Wallack's Theatre, on Broadway and 30th Street in New York City, players from the New York Giants and Chicago White Stockings were guests in the auditorium.
Ernest Lawrence Thayer actually wrote three versions of Casey at the Bat — the first printing, a self-corrupted version, and the revised version.
