I think we can all agree that America is the land of opportunity, anyone can make as much money as they are capable of making. Rewards are commensurate with how hard one works. Even during economic down turns, motivated individuals can amass wealth by the sweat of their brow. I would add that the only obstacles to wealth are created by the individual and not circumstances. All of this said, why is it that so many here on cellar.org think it's OK to tax the wealthy more simply because they are wealthy, that it's OK to punish individuals for their success. The wealthy all ready pay the lion's share of taxes in the US, this is a demonstrable fact. How is that not enough? If someone is all ready paying more than anyone else how is it OK to squeeze them for more? It doesn't matter how much one has even if it is more than they could spend in ten lifetimes, if they pay what is required of them no one has a right to ask them for more. Such a demand is downright unAmerican.
