Dec 3, 2010: Jerboa

It's Friday, which means you want cute, you want cuddly, you want warm and fuzzy... you want eatable.

This one has it all, everything but a bright future.

You definitely won't find another creature like this on the planet! With its crazy long tail, exceptionally long hind legs for jumping, and HUGE ears, the Long-Eared Jerboa certainly is a unique character. So unique, in fact, that scientists have placed it as the only member in its genus Euchoreutes, and subfamily, Euchoreutinae.

Habitat: China, as well as the Trans Altai Govi Desert and Gobi Desert in Mongolia
Status: Endangered

Are those two the same animal, they look so different.

I suppose any old tribble recipe might work...or we could use 'em like meatballs and make pasketti.

It does look like that. But then if I were creating those things, I'd also go to the weird endangered species for inspiration. Imagine if you didn't though, you just drew something like this out of your imagination and then they find them IRL. Oh wait, that was a different kids' cartoon.

It reminded me more of this:

Remember those awful jeans that were popular in the 80s--Marithe Francois Girbaud? The kids would say stuff like, "Did you see her new Jerbos?"

I LOVED TENCHI MUYO! /endIrrelevantShout

They wouldn't be going extinct if the obvious pet craze potential were exploited. Personally I'd upsize them through controlled breeding. A 300 pounder would be sufficiently saddle-worthy.

....and could jump over your house. Would be great post apocalyptic personal transportation. let's get started breeding them now, then.
