Meet my new little boy!

My wonderful cat Ivan disappeared in July, and I've been contemplating getting another cat for a while. Each weekend I'd go look at the kitties at Petsmart, and came close a couple of times, but it didn't seem right. Well, on Friday, I went out to the Animal Rescue League and picked this little guy out to be a friend to my older cat, Miles (who's a bit grumpy about it, but so far things are a-okay!)

Meet Merlin. He's ridiculously sweet! and, he's got eyeliner!

Kind of hard to get a good pic, as he's pretty much a perpetual motion machine right now.

Wonderful. I'm happy for you and even happier he came from a shelter instead of a store.
Good for you... and him.

and, black and white. I've never had a black and white kitty before, I don't think. (Had to make sure EVERY color of clothing was well-coated, ha!)

oh, and the animals sponsored by Petsmart are rescues. I just had to wait until it was right.

I don't know why I don't want a store-bought animal, but I don't.

Can't say as I ever got a pet from a shelter/pound, either, though.

We've always been adopted by our pets, or they came from a station wagon/van/suv in the Wal-Mart parking lot...

I like tuxedo kittehs.

He is adorable, congrats!
I bought a baby hamster from a (reputable) pet store once, could see myself doing the same for fish/snakes/lizards. Dogs and cats we've always rescued/adopted.

The dogs/cats at Petsmart are from a local animal rescue group, Petsmart provides a convenient place for the animals to be shown to the public for adoption, but the shelter they are from usually handle their care.

ha, Bruce, you 'shopped ma kitty! Instead of swords, I usually think of them as little climbing pitons!

Awww! I had a cat named Merlin. I totally adored him. He was colored like an Abyssinian/Tabby, like a little mountain lion. Growled all the time but couldn't be sweeter. I miss him. :(

I also used to have a black and white cat. His name was Max. He never grew up all the way though, died of feline leukemia. He was a sweetie pie too. I think black and white cats have such nice personalities.

Congratulations!

Awwww Cloud he's gorgeous!
I can almost feel the wriggly weight of him just from the photo (some people get that when looking at babies, for me it's just kitties).

Kittens have such big paws for their size!
And I love his slanty little eyes. A real winner. And lucky to have you of course.

He is a real beauty and very like my little Daisy, also a rescue cat and who is a 'Felix' lookalike. I love those facial markings.

He's a cutie. Don't let him turn you into a falcon!
