Sunny Side of the Street
Ok Republicans - how long till everything is sunshine, lolly pops and rainbows?
When can we expect all those jobs back?
I assume everything is gonna be fantastic now that republicans are in charge of my state.
I'm hoping for right before the weekend. I need a little extra cash.
When we oust Obama and elect the Jeb Bush/Palin ticket. LOL
Yeah so Palin can refudiate all those socialist policies.
I'm still stuck with Schumer and his clone Brunhilda.
Ok Republicans - how long till everything is sunshine, lolly pops and rainbows?
The same amount of time it took Obama to fix everything Bush (the Devil) broke.
How long was that now? Two years later and everything is 100% perfect!
And to think, he did all that while struggling under the burden of controlling every branch of the government simultaneously...
A news quiz this week showed the clip of Christine O'Donnell talking about scientists crossbreeding men and monkeys and coming up with mice with human brains. We had to pause it because we were laughing so hard. Then I told Mum she was not only serious but she was actually standing for election.
The first thing Mum asked me when they were announcing results was, "Did the mouse-woman get in?"
O’Donnell received 40% or, 123,025 votes.
That's more frightening to me. She is one knucklehead. Whats the excuse of the over 100,000 that voted for her?
Ignorance is being strongly pushed as a virtue.

They're conservative repubicans - they think the way they're told to think.
Even worse was Alvin Greene - He got 356,969 votes.
ETA for Spexxie - And he's a Democrat!

I propose that there may be some other plausible explanations. Out of 100,000 people, how many do you figure were aware to some degree that she was a complete dipshit, but would rather have her dumb ass in office than even one more Democratic to vote on legislation? Surely that accounts for some of her votes.
How sad is it that some people would rather vote for a complete imbecile than risk electing a Democrat?
Of course I'm assuming that human beings by and large are capable of higher functions (such as having priorities in decision making) rather than leaning on the comfortable illusion that those who disagree with me are simple, one-dimensional caricatures.
All of those explanations are completely compatible.

However...it gets harder to justify the arrogant dismissal of 100,000 thinking, feeling human beings as "ignorant" if one considers the unconsiderable possibility that there could exist a valid set of arguments (albeit ones that you do not necessarily have to agree with) that bear the conclusion that the current Democratic platform is not what "we" (the people*) want.
* specifically these 100,000 people, in this case (otherwise known as the ignorant, unthinking automatons)
I agree Flint. What never ceases to amaze me is that people really go in there and just pull the red or blue lever without regard for what they are actually doing.
People who just vote the "color" account for most of them, I am assuming.
Yes, but. You think, right? I think. You know people who think.
Why are these "others," these mythical ignorant voters, not also capable of thought?
In this case, my hunch is that they used their religiosity as their guide for this vote.
They're conservative repubicans - they think the way they're told to think.
Which is to say that the Republicans have an excellent organization and they are very good at getting their talking points out.
The Dems need to do as well or they're never going to get anything done.
I was reading somewhere (can't find article now) that a majority of people voted based upon, after party, name recognition. "Ohh yeh I know that name" = vote. WTF?
Maybe voters in Delaware that voted for her knew her opponent was a bigger risk. If I could trade her for Chucky Schumer or Andrew Cuomo, I would.
I doubt it, I think they are part of the large segment of the population that don't have a clue what either candidate's qualifications or positions are. They seize on something they're comfortable with, be it party, religion, color, smile, a sound byte, slogan or whatever, and go with it. I know there were periods in my life, when I was real busy, I did that too.
Karl Rove figured out the majority of the voters are too fat & happy to be bothered to delve into it, and will respond to snappy slogans, heard often enough.

Bread and circuses.
A lot of people vote the social issue - abortion, gayness, onanism...witch craftery...what have you.
Yes, but.
Butt what? Spit it out man!
on second thought - don't. You're a goober.

Do you believe that there is a
valid set of arguments for an intelligent, thinking human being to determine that a woman who has said:

I absolutely agree. The repubicans are better disciplined.
Maybe voters in Delaware that voted for her knew her opponent was a bigger risk. If I could trade her for Chucky Schumer or Andrew Cuomo, I would.
You must be a white christian heterosexual who doesn't masturbate and believes there are mice out there with fully functioning human brains. I think one of these guys is available

I am a white Christian heterosexual who doesn't believe in junk science like global warming, Darwinism, Socialism, or that Obama care won't have rationing.
We had a party in the UK called The Monster Raving Looney Party, lead by Screaming Lord Sutch. He often managed to retain his deposit (5% of the vote at the time).
He was seen as a showman, standing purely for shits and giggles.
Voting for him was no different than spoiling your ballot paper.
And he never said anything as near as crazy as O'Donnell.
Did they really have no alternative?
Honestly, I am pretty anti-Conservative. But I'd rather vote for David "double my salary via expenses" Lidington than someone like her. Are there no independents?
blah blah blah
FYI: I didn't read your post, since you obviously didn't read mine.

If there
were mice out there with fully-functioning human brains, they would masturbate.:jagoff:
touché
However...it gets harder to justify the arrogant dismissal of 100,000 thinking, feeling human beings as "ignorant" ...
You do not appear to be taking into account the primaries.
If there were mice out there with fully-functioning human brains, they would masturbate.:jagoff:
I would guess that there are mice out there that masturbate without the human brain to help them. They manage to survive as owl food just fine.
You do not appear to be taking into account the primaries.
I didn't forget, I was just hoping you wouldn't notice. You're like a whack-a-mole.
I would guess that there are mice out there that masturbate without the human brain to help them. They manage to survive as owl food just fine.
so... the mice who
don't masturbate live long and prosper?
I would guess that there are mice out there that masturbate without the human brain to help them. They manage to survive as owl food just fine.
Do you mean reproduce? If so, masturbating would not be helping them...
FYI: I didn't read your post, since you obviously didn't read mine.
Fuck you.
Fuck you.
I think there was just a misunderstanding between you two. Please don't fight. :sniff:
What I meant was, it doesn't matter whether a mouse masturbates, or has a human brain, his function is to be close to the bottom of the food chain.
His function? Not if he was smart enough to develop the right defenses.
Who the fuck are you to tell a mouse what his/her function is?
They have lots of functions, and are very important. Their importance is actually increased due to their position in the food chain. You have not even the slightest grasp on ecology.
BUT, Are they as important as the Horseshoe crab?
:stickpoke
Hmm, good question classic. They are in different ecosystems though, so it would be hard to do an exact side to side comparison.
But he's not a witch.
He isn't smart enough.
BUT, Are they as important as the Horseshoe crab?
:stickpoke
No way.
The horseshoe crab plays a vital, if little-known, role in the life of anyone who has received an injectable medication. An extract of the horseshoe crab's blood is used by the pharmaceutical and medical device industries to ensure that their products, e.g., intravenous drugs, vaccines, and medical devices, are free of bacterial contamination. No other test works as easily or reliably for this purpose. Read below for more detail.
He isn't smart enough.
Nope, just another dumb black guy.:right:
Well spexxie, if we're gonna talk medicinal use...mice are used in tons of medical testing and experiments. Too many to try to list.
Oh and they're also used to crossbreed with humans.
Well spexxie, if we're gonna talk medicinal use...mice are used in tons of medical testing and experiments. Too many to try to list.
Oh and they're also used to crossbreed with humans.
Maybe O'Donnell is right... that
would explain Mickey and Minnie:D
...
Oh and they're also used to crossbreed with humans.
I thought that was an urban myth.
And wasn't it a gerbil?
They want you to believe its a myth.
It is probably both gerbils and mice. Why only test 1 rodent? How do you think we got squirel nutkin?
I know the importance of the Horseshoe crab.. What was posted above is just one item.
MTP just got me to thinking about mice - are they really all that important in the cycle? Aside from the fact that we basically use them for testing?
Of course I'm asking about the normal ones - not the ones with human brains.
We're talking about a mouse rubbing one out people. Let's not get too serious over masturbatory rodentia.
Geez.
ETA: Oh, wait...
Burns knew.

You're not telling me that wasn't a mouse with a human brain settling down for a night in front of the dvd, finger on pause, couple of kernels of corn, mouse-cock in hand, when in comes the rude plough to ruin the atmosphere?
I think it was Labrat that ruined it for the poor mousey...
This part of a quote on Dailykos really surprised me.
Some of you actually thought that if we just stayed silent, little pesky details of how poorly the Democrats governed might evade the notice of a very angry electorate, who voted for change they could touch and would impact their lives. Instead, we received instead a bunch of possible way down the road IOUs, while Wall Street happily devoured taxpayer money with few or no strings attached.
So not wishing to poke my fist into a hornets nest, despite knowing the lunacy of such pedestrian thinking, I stayed largely silent.
But no longer.
I hope we can also agree that that dopey strategy doesn't win elections. Plenty went wrong, let's agree that, the next Democrats we begin electing will be true Democrats, not the triple and quadruple talking milquetoasters who got their walking papers last night.
I'll leave you with the enormity of the tragedy.
The other day, I read a rather horrifying article in the New York Times about the likely impact of the quantitative easing the Fed has planned for later today. Long story short, many economists don't think it's going to help very much, and it will do little or nothing to help most beleaguered Americans.
From here:
Wow.
There's nothing surprising about that post.
the "wow" is that the dailykos published something unpositive about democrats.
That happens all the time.
Fuck you.
Sounds like you're askin' for a head stomping. lol
I, for one, welcome our new head-stomping overlords.
