So You Want to be a Doctor

So you want to be a Doctor, here's a handy dandy chart from NAG, to help you choose a field. :D
Lamplighter • Oct 30, 2010 1:09 pm
Surgery - believe it's the only specialty that actually cures the patient

Dermatology - never cures, but charges $ for lifetime of the patient

Chief of Staff - believes medical training is not necessary - only MBA

Radiologists are crazy, too. The main trait is: want to be a doctor, but don't like dealing with people (talking to them, getting germs from them, etc.)? Want to sit in a room by yourself all day, and/or possibly just work from home in your pajamas, looking at pictures on an array of high-res monitors and dictating gibberish into a telephone?
wolf • Oct 30, 2010 2:56 pm
That chart is absolutely true. Short paths, but the ER and shrink parts are 100% correct.
Trilby • Oct 30, 2010 3:16 pm
My path would be that of the ER doc.
Sundae • Oct 30, 2010 3:29 pm
Wait, where's the bit about the TARDIS?
monster • Oct 30, 2010 4:40 pm
Anaesthesiologists aren't sane.... although I guess they may be when they start out.....
ZenGum • Oct 31, 2010 12:50 am
It's trying to tell people what they do after three drinks that messes them up.
Gravdigr • Oct 31, 2010 3:26 am
Anesthesiologists are a gas.
Sundae • Oct 31, 2010 8:12 am
Does that make Gynaecologists cunts?
Clodfobble • Oct 31, 2010 8:37 am
That's worth pointing out--every Obstetrician I've ever met has been humble and kind. They are the only ones who are fully aware that they are not God.

Me too.

Maybe because Obstetricians know they aren't in charge, just witness to the process. They pass on what they've learned from seeing it happen so many times, but mother nature is calling the shot's for the most part.

Not a WORD about chiropracters! [/alan harper]
Beest • Nov 3, 2010 1:13 pm
I never met a medical student who wasn't a basket case.

A friend who went into anesthesiology, OD'd in the bathroom in the middle of his rounds.

Probably because they aren't doctors.

(I've missed some pop culture reference, haven't it?)

I don't know what that means.
Juniper • Nov 3, 2010 2:02 pm
I'd be in Radiology.

But I'd do just about anything besides work in the medical field, including things we won't discuss on this nice clean forum. :D

Looking thru some old threads, I would NOT want to be a doctor for anything...I'm sure they do get sick and tired of TRYING to fix people.

On the surgery, I had a major one 10 yrs ago, hip replacement, and my life has been damaged ever since. Whole right side of body is numb, nerve damage and lord know what else. Regrets, Often...never used a walker before and now can't be without it. So....

On Dermatology, I believe many are cured with some of their drugs for issues. I've had a couple good results with these doctors.

Doctors couldn't save (at least) three of the people who have posted on this thread. people many of us cared about. What is your purpose here? You think grapeseed might have saved them?

Grape Seed Extract MIGHT have saved my son in law from the horrid cancer he died from at 55....Yes, I believe this....and how I tried to get him on it, but he knew better, so he thought. He has not been able to see his 2 kids become nice adults....

Docs and their drugs, radiation etc tried to save sil, but could not....sad sad sad how so many do not seek alternatives for their health....

And while trying to save him with their stuff, got all the 1000's of dollars from the insurance world....

Then my sis who died at 68 from a horrible MS, would not hear me and some of what I offered her, but listened to the specialists and all their drugs and and the costs of these drugs, she lost her battle at 68 and I miss both these people in my life...but they chose...

And I'm really NOT the enemy who has arrived on this forum

Then why are you dredging up a 10-year old comedy thread with happy memories/fun comments from people who are no longer with us and turning it into another platform for your obsessed rhetoric? The fact that people are dead who didn't do what you told them to doesn't mean they would be alive if the had've. Lots of things might have saved them. Maybe they were ready to go. Or didn't put the right socks on.

What are the effects of grapeseed extract on short term memory? And ADHD and autism spectrum disorders? And sociopathy?
Flint • Oct 10, 2020 1:06 am
oh, yeah, um *asking for a friend* but what about those?
Gravdigr • Oct 10, 2020 10:51 am
I know a guy who didn't take grapeseed extract, and he died, so...:right:

Maybe if he took it, he'd still be alive...:3eye:

Oh how ignorance glows...

Why are people digging up 10 year old threads?

Why are you insulting people here, I am not going to buy your Grapeseed Extract, and I'm pretty sure very few people are going to.
monster • Oct 11, 2020 1:26 pm
No, Fargon, that's kindness. Didn't you know? You must've forgotten to put grapeseed extract in your morning bong. Stop being so ANGRY
fargon • Oct 11, 2020 5:12 pm
Oh okay.
