Pick My Next Class

As you all know 'cause I bragged about it a lot, I finished my BA in June. I decided that I just didn't get enough, so I'm going back to school in pursuit of the MA in English Comp & Rhetoric. But I'm going to do it sloooooowly. :) Didn't take any classes Fall quarter 'cause by the time I got my acceptance, the one class I needed that would fit my schedule was already full.

I'm having problems because I find most of the grad level courses are taught in the late afternoon/evening. I'm sure this is to accommodate people with real jobs, but since I work at home and have kids to ferry around at night, I'd prefer daytime. Oh well, I'll make it work.

So I'd like to just take one class right now--just sort of ease into it, take my time. Registration starts Wed., and I've got 5 choices, 3 of which are outside my major in the Religious Studies realm and 1 is history -- all of which are OK with me, 'cause I'm doing the interdisciplinary studies track. So which would you choose?

1. Shakespeare & Film
2. New Religious Movements in the U.S.
3. Book of Revelation
4. Dead Sea Scrolls
5. US Western History

With just the titles to go on, I like New Religious Movements in the U.S. :)

Shakespeare in Film, def!

Personally, I'd be inclined to go for the History one :P

But, given what we know of you, I'd suggest Shakespeare and Film, or New Religious Movements in the US.

They sound like they have great potential to be challenging and interesting; with lots of room for interpretation and mind bending :P

The Dead Sea Scrolls and Revelation should be the same course!

I should have made this into a poll. LOL!

I'm leaning toward Shakespeare or Religious movements. Tiebreaker may be the time of the class; Shakespeare is in the evening and Religion is at 11:00.

And though I'd rather go during the day, I'm also trying to get a job . . . which may not happen for another decade, the way this economy sucks, but it could also happen next week, who knows?

Decide based on the quality of the prof.

I know the Shakespeare chick and she's really great. That's why I said go with that one. :)

U.S. Western History sounds the least dry. To me, anyway, but then again I hated school.

I'd pick the Revelation class, myself. We did a large section on the Apocalypse in my History of Religion class way back when, and it was really fascinating stuff. For example, there was a quite significant movement of people who believed Ronald Reagan was the Antichrist, and they had some really detailed tie-ins to various prophecies that just made the whole thing very entertaining. The textbook for that section, When Time Shall Be No More, was one of the few from all of college that I still keep.
