Sure thing Bros... candy in dandy, and liquor is quicker, but if you absolutely, positively, have to get in there tonight, here's the ticket.

The enormous 24.78 carat gem is cut into a rectangular shape with rounded corners, and mounted on a ring in between two clear stones. The gem, classified by the Gemological Institute of America as ‘fancy intense pink’ has been assessed as type IIa – meaning it is in the top two per cent of the world’s diamonds. It was sold by celebrity jeweller Harry Winston some 60 years ago and has been in a private collection ever since. It is now on show in Hong Kong and will tour the world before being sold by Sotheby’s auction house in Geneva. It is estimated to fetch between $23 million and $32 million

She may even hate pink, and think it's hideous, but at $23 to $32 million dollars, it'll work. ;)

The ring it was set in by Harry Winston, but it's hard to tell exactly how big it is. It is, however, safe to say 25 carats is a big mutha stone.

Yeah, I don't need expensive jewelry. My ex's best friend is a jeweler (and quite artistic) so we got some nice stuff for fairly cheap. It's fun and stuff, but not necessary.

Just buy some groceries and help with the bills...I'll swoon all over the place. :lol:

London jeweler Laurence Graff paid $46,158,674, for the 24.78-carat "fancy intense pink" diamond, which he immediately named "The Graff Pink."

And some more interesting information from a very lazy googling effort on my part mixed with awe at the history of it and incredulity that people have that much money to chuck around on things which are so impractical.

The Wittelsbach-Graff Diamond
In 2008, Christie's auction house sold the the most expensive commodity in history; a 35.52-carat fancy deep blue oval diamond. The diamond was originally found in India. In 1664, King Philip IV of Spain gave the jewel to his daughter, the Infanta Margarita Teresa, as a dowry. The blue diamond was purchased by Laurence Graff for $24.3 million. Graff later had the diamond "cleaned up" to improve the appearance of cracks inevitably caused by handling over the ages. The controversial move reduced the carat weight from 32.52 to 31.06-carats. The Wittelsbach-Graff is on display alongside the Hope Diamond in the Smithsonian museum.

I LOVE the gem collection at the Smithsonian. When i went there years ago, my main goal was to see the Hope Diamond. I even bought a replica from the gift shop. And i got to see Liz Taylor's Krupps Diamond she got from Richard Burton. It was on loan. :-)
