World Government

Do you think there will ever be a world government? Will it be imposed, like the Roman Empire, or voluntary, like Star Trek's Federation? Would you be willing to give up your national identity/heritage for the sake of world-wide peace?

Not until there is a colony settlement off-world, so we can still maintain an "us" and "them."

Fortunately not. I've seen too many ways the EU has fucked up the cultures of the member countries.

There are plenty who would argue that Americans already elect the leader of the world government every four years.

Can you imagine how awful the politics would be? We can't even balance a budget here. No, nay, never to world gov.
