My old state of Victoria has been hit by flood now, my parents were just out of the really bad bushfire range, but they didnt escape the floods.
They are all safe, but very soggy.
Worse floods since 1994, and we have been in a drought for about 7 years.
Is the flooding related to the drought -the land is so hard and dry that the water runs over it and collects in places it shouldn't rather than soaking in?
There's proof... it's BP's fault. :haha:
Usually I would say yes, Monster...but we have had good soaking rain for the past 6 weeks....the flood is because its been bucketing down for well over a week, on top of the rain we have had in the past 6 weeks.
Awesome snow season too, so we will have good water in the catchment this year - yay!!
Everything is BP's fault isnt it, Bruce??
My home town, Shepparton, is flooded too now and its not due to peak until tomorrow. The high points of Shepp are 12.4 metres and the water is set to peak at 11.4.
Better soggy than crispy.
There's proof... it's BP's fault. :haha:
No way, "It's Bush's Fault!"
the world needs better strategies for living and building in flood areas. glad your folks are safe, DucksNuts
Floods have followed me North...tonite I drove through flood water that was about 1 metre deep to get home...then I found a small creek flowing down my driveway, my heels are muddy!!
How can it follow you north? That's uphill!!!
How do you start a flood?
How can it follow you north? That's uphill!!!
Wouldn't that be downhill in the southern hemisphere?
How do you start a flood?
Take one 5 year old and one bathroom. Leave momentarily to answer door/phone/rescue another child from the roof.....
