Am I mad...???
Soooo......opinions, criticism, random thoughts....
Im thinking of moving... 4 hours away....it has a lot to do with a new start, a fair bit to do with a job and a bit less to do with a guy (he is the lesser part because it might last 3 minutes).
I have my final interview for the job on Tuesday and then its crunch time I guess....all of a sudden I am crapping bricks because I might be moving these 2 little boys away from their grandparents, I really dont know anybody up there, but its a great place and has a lot of opportunities.
I will be setting up totally independant of the dude (its complicated, he's in a relationship) and I dont really think that will develop anyway, but its in the back of the mind.
Oh, the other big plus is there's a fairly big army base near by ;)
My parents are elderly, my Dad is quite ill, but I know part of the reason they havent packed up and travelled is because of me and the boys...they know I rely on them a bit for backup.
Im so torn and excited and nervous....
Will you be able to afford professional daycare for the boys with your new gig? The guy is in a relationship, so you need to zero out his impact on this decision. He does not exist. Harsh but true. Good luck!
Consider, also, that your parents might need you.
Sell your house, or rent it out? Kids changing schools & friends?
Downside - 4 hours can be a short ride, or an eternity, depending on the urgency.
Upside - Your smart and capable of adjusting to, or rebounding from, a move that doesn't go well as planned.
I think you've already made up your mind your in a rut, and need a change... again. I hope you find what you're looking for, of course if it's change your seeking, that's pretty much a sure thing. :)
How does this fit in with your other thread????? (Guess I should probably refer back to it before asking the question. Hold on a sec.
Griff/Classic....Yeah, the guy doesnt really factor in to my decision, but its in the back of my mind that he is there and he's an awesome guy, so he would be there for me in the friend catergory if nothing else...I know I can rely on him if I need him to pick up the kids etc.
Daycare isnt an issue, I pay for it now on less money, both the boys will be in school next year and the new gig is really family friendly with a *games room* for after school entertainment and a gym/spa for me :)
Spexxie - I know my parents need me, I got called out there this afternoon to help with chores, but, I think me being so close and handy is bandaiding a decision they NEED to make. I know they wont leave whilst I am here....they have been talking about selling up and buying a caravan, they can park on my lawn no matter where I am.
Bruce - Rent this house out, it will practically "wipe its own nose" mortgage v's rent, and it was always going to be an investment house eventually. This is the change I should of made 18 months ago, instead of just changing jobs. Kids are both young enough that the move wont upset them too much, Tyler has new friends every week and Addison isnt in school yet and is a bit of a loner - they will be happy where ever I am...they will miss the grandparents though.
Casi....it doesnt factor in with the other thread at all, the other thread is scratching an itch.
IF I get the job (I've applied for 3 others) and IF I decide this is the right thing to do, I'll have to rent for a while and that will be difficult with the animals (personally I'd prefer to rent to someone with pets than kids...but apparently no one else thinks that way) and I HATE moving house because I have way too much shit, plus it costs a small fortune to move...sigh...
Yesterday I was dead set going to do it, today its all too hard and I should just suck it up and stay here.
Being an out-of-town landlord can be deadly.
If you do rent out your place, get a good Property Manager firm
If you do get a Property Manager, do a LOT of research on them be for signing a contract.
If you do a lot of research, include talking with some of their clients.
It's pay me now or pay me later.

Being an in-town landlord can be just as deadly. Tenants that start off with what appear to be impeccable rent histories can drop their bundle and stop paying, refuse to answer their phones/return messages, open their mail and then reneg on payment plans. Not that every tenant is like that...you just have to be prepared for unreliability. Take out landlord insurance.
Mad as a Hatter , But thats why we Lurve You Ducky !!
Life's an Adventure !!!!
Have fun , take it Light , and Pics of the new digs ASAP !!!!!

Thank god (or whatever deity happens to be out there) for the Residential Tenancies Tribunal.

Waiting.....:D
Im still toying with the idea.....actually, Im waiting to get a job that is awesome and that I cant say no too!! I have another interview up there tomorrow.
On the plus side, I spoke to my parents and they are now downsizing since they realise that I may be moving and wont be able to do the chainsawing, wood splitting, pump starting, tractor driving, lawn mowing, light bulb changing etc that I have been.
I know its the right move, but I just want the decision made for me. I hate the new Business Manager at work and Im not very good at pretending to kiss someones arse I have no respect for, I have my annual reveiw Thursday, and when they ask me where I plan to be in 12 months time I will have trouble saying "not fucking here!!"
Bring the rents with you!

This gentleman is a real woman. You single guys better get your offers in quick, while she's looking for change.
We'll have a Victorian chapter of the Cellar then?
Griff...I'm the other son my father never had...best tomboy princess around :)
Casi....less a victorian chapter!
I got offered a job an hour after my interview and accepted...now the hard work starts!
Congratulations, they won't regret it. ;)

CONGRATS!
Congrats, ducks! You mention an army base, can you drop a clue as to where you'll be? I love the name Puckapunyal.
This gentleman is a real woman.
:eyebrow:
I hope you meant:
This, gentlemen, is a real woman.
Obviously Ducks is not a Japanese girl...no girly jumping up and down pigeon-toed and squealing for her. Champion!
The thought of a J-girl with a chainsaw just made me choke.
Im close to Pucka now, Zen....think more Kapooka ;)
Im a bit annoyed with my current employer...Im trying to do the right thing by him, but he's making it difficult.
Also trying to find a house, luckily I have someone (the boy) on the ground up there doing the leg work for me, but I need to find a house....before I can enrol the kids in school, book child care.......and tomorrow I start packing - I have way too much shit.

Images of Japanese girl with powertools in hand had not made its way into my consciousness. :lol2:

Good luck. If you need encouragement cheered from the sidelines or your list of tasks broken down into smaller less onerous tasks (I'm great at making lists), just say the word.

Not even a Hello Kitty vibrator?
Not even a Hello Kitty vibrator?
Not featured in the Bunnings catalogue.
I wonder if wolf has one of them?
Sigh...rents soooo expensive up there, like what Im paying for mortgage. Im in love with a house, ringing the agent tomorrow....have to hope they allow pets!!

I hope they allow leggy jellyfish paintings. ;)
ohhhh, is that who you are!!!
I hope you meant:
This, gentlemen, is a real woman.
Thank you for attempting to get me in deep deep trouble.
ohhhh, is that who you are!!!
;) yes, dear
Sneaky kero!!
I've applied for a house....fingers crossed.
New House!!!
Third pic is the upstairs living area.
Cool. Love these kinds of verandahs. Looks like the yard is a fairly decent size as well. When do you move in?
Ummm, I should be in by the 2nd or 3rd...so much shit to pack up here.
Im so changing those curtains upstairs.
Congratulations, I guess they are cool with pets. The stairs will keep your legs looking good, anyway. Is that security wire on the garage windows?
Oh, don't let the kids fall off the balcony. :mg:
It looks like a nice place! The levels are awesome.Congratulations!
Hey Bruce, you know whats really cool....like seriously pants wetting cool....the RAAF base is just down the end of my street and the army base is 10 minutes away....PLUS these NAVAL training base too!!
HA!!
The "guy" is an Army boy, there was a position available at the army base (...waits for the comments), but we decided it wouldnt be good for the relationship if I worked there...for.so.many.reasons.
I havent even walked through the house or driven past it, but the boy took heaps of photos for me, and I can blame him if I dont like it :)
They are cool with 2 big dogs, 2 cats, a turtle, 6 yabbies, a bird and some fish.
I'm totally pissed at my soon to be ex employer....what a C.O.A.T, they sure show their true colours when things dont go their way.
Sounds like you've got your bases covered.;)
What are yabbies, and what is C.O.A.T?
Well, that's our military recruitment and retention issues sorted out right there! :D
Sounds like you've got your bases covered.;)
What are yabbies, and what is C.O.A.T?
C.O.A.T = C*nt Of A Thing.
Yabbie....(see pic)
Monster - there's a fourth bedroom that might be the rumpus room or part of the upstairs lounge/living.
Ah, thank you. By the way, morals are overrated because they are highly subjective. Smart people's morals are elastic. ;) Are you hiring a moving company or is this a call in past favors project?
Oh no, I think I have used up all my past favour calling cards and Im quite fond of my furniture in one piece....Ive hired a big arse removals truck and I will probably take up a little truck rental as well with all the additional crap.
soon to be ex employer....
Farewell to Des and Troy!
. I love my new stove :)
I love it too. Ours is very similar to yours. Is it dual fuel? Ours is which is good in some ways, and not in others.

The Himbo wants to come with me!!!..I told him 2 kids were enough..unless he was never going to wear a shirt again :)

I have no clue, I know its gas...:) but the dude was a little bit hazy with details.

You might want to check that out properly before turning any knobs on and walking away.
So I was supposed to finish work this Friday, but they finished me on Monday....in a not very nice way either - cockheads.
My big boss was away until today, but the Business Manager finished me on Monday because he had some changes to make "and it will be easier without you around"...yeah right, you want to bulldoze my girls and do it without me being around to tell you how and why I think its wrong.
Anyway, after I got over being pissed, I realised they are paying me to pack and I was in "IDGAF" mode anyway.
Ive had 4 removalists come through and none of them had trucks big enough, another quoted me $3500 - FUCK!
Finally find a lovely, kinda hot guy, who popped around unannounced and he said he would do it for $2200, plus he will dismantle the beds etc and put them back together. I think it helped that he caught me half dressed :)
Casi - I could do with that list about now!! I've done the power, gas, phone, booked the kids into school and kinder, cant find child care at the moment.
What's left on the list in addition to finding child care (just so I can be really thorough about this)?
Casi, if you really want to help, wear your old clothes on Saturday. :haha:
Will there be an airfare to the other side of the country as part of the volunteer package (she said looking hopeful)?
This thread makes me want to get a new job and move somewhere. I think I'd have a lot of trouble finding someone to replace me here though.
I reckon we let the army know that a hot chick who likes men in uniform is attempting to move to the town. I expect a "training exercise" would be held where they "evacuate and relocate" a random household. Convoys of vehicles and air transport would be necessary.
Casi - I'll shout you a trip if you stay here and look after the kids :)
Ali, you cant be replaced, no one else will make the lamb shank pie.
You mean this one?

It was pretty good. The flavour was great. The meat wasn't as tender though, but I did expect that because I didn't have time to really let it bubble away in the sauce for long enough before I put it into the pie.
So the meat should be pretty well done before the pie is assembled?
It needs to be cooked for ages at a slow simmer or in a slow cooker to break down so it falls off the bone.
Casi - I'll shout you a trip if you stay here and look after the kids :)
How do you reckon they'd stand up to being guinea pigs for instruction on how to use Venn Diagrams :)
The big one will be fine, the little wranga will say something awful to you and pick his nose :)
Im playing Tetris with a whooooole heap of boxes and a truck....I just want it over.
Next time you post, let us know what state you're in (i.e. location) and how your Tetris scores are.
OK, Im kinda moved in....well, the furniture is in and I am unpacking.
Casi....Im in New South Wales...Wagga Wagga :)
I met some RAAF boys at the bottleo the other day and the owner of the Bottleo loves me already.
Gonna like it here me thinks!!
Havent seen the dude yet, he's away teaching rock climbing to the army boys in the Blue Mountains.
I knew someone from Wagga Wagga once. He was my mom's boyfriend for a while. he was bumming around Europe. A little after they split up, we happened to see him hitching in Wales. My sister and I were all "Wait, stop, that's Richard!" and so my dad says "who's Richard?".....
Monster, how did you answer that one?
Ducks, do you know Richard? (just kidding)
Cool, always good to have the people at the bottleo on your side. What do the kids think about their new home?
Impossibilities of all impossibilities: I've officially made friends with one of the grumpy guys who manages the place where I park my car when I drive to work. Couldn't believe it as he'd always be grumpy and tell you off for something. Anyway, I just kept saying hello and smiling and one day a few weeks ago he let me in on one of the secrets of the ticketing system (now that was worth waiting for). Thursday afternoon, the machine at the exit had a bit of a spac, so I jumped out of the car to go to the carpark office to find out what the story was. He smiled and laughed and told me he was having a crap day-it was heartwarming.
awkwardly. I think my dad pulled over so we could say hi but apologised that we couldn't offer a ride as the car was full. But I was a kid, there were probably many subtle undertones to the convo I missed. My parents were separated at the time.
First day of work tomorrow...Im looking forward to it.
The dude is being freaking weird at the moment....men!!
Good luck for the first day at work.
The dude is back from rock climbing in the Blue Mountains already??
Is this the dude who lives in/near the town you've just moved to?
Casi - nah, he's being weird via text...but I have a habit of reading between lines that dont exist...being a chick and all :)
First day of work was great...bit boring at times because I dont have a desk or a computer at the moment.
Im pretty happy with the arrangement, this is a position they created for me and it has all the perks of the old job without any of the shit that I didnt like.
has all the perks of the old job without any of the shit that I didnt like.
Did they include the himbo as part of the package? :)
So this dude who is being weird, has had some woman who he had a bit of chemistry with (and maybe some biology too) and who has now moved to his town.
[Bloke]Woah, mate, sounds like ya got yerself a bunny-boiler there![/at pub]
Or maybe you're just over-interpreting. More likely.
Ha, Zen, we've known each other for years and have a lot of history....we still just mates at this stage...we both have a lot of shit on our plates, and there's soooo many camo around here I get distracted really easy.
All good then... unless you really are crazy. :D
Well duh....hallooooooo semi attractive chick who hasnt had a real boyfriend forever... obviously theres more than a few issues there!!
yeah...it's the crazy. I'm sure of it. You'd have to be to move to Wagga wouldn't you?
Semi-attractive??????
SEMI?????
Yup that's crazy right there for a start. But hell, look at the thread title. Could be.
Im trying to figure out how to change the freaking light globes on my 18 foot high chandelier...I dont have a ladder, its next to the stairwell...So Im thinking of some creative leaning or something.
Get one of those
light bulb changing poles? Or do the bulbs point up instead of down?
small child duct-taped to a broom handle
Oh, the other big plus is there's a fairly big army base near by ;)
Careful Ducks, that base has ladies too... armed ladies.;)

A tree fell on my house last Sunday leaving a 24 tile hole in the roof. The tenant who has been "unable to open mail, answer the phone, return texts or pay the rent because of depression" has found somewhere else to go, without any encouragement from me, the agent or the Residential Tenancies Tribunal, in the space of a week. :D
Careful Ducks, that base has ladies too... armed ladies.;)
Yeah, I met some the other day....theyre not really my type....considering they have vaginas...I always get hit on by lesbians....if they door swings the same way as mine...sure there are enough men to go around.
Works going well, Ive basically been given free rein to make what changes I want...since they are a new business and I have been running the equivalent business for the past 15 months.
My co workers are a bit older than the ones at my old work....well...greater range...previous work average of 27 (from 19 - 48) and this place is more mid 30's and no silly girlie shit so far.
My tennants are in this weekend, Casi, so hopefully when I get paid this week I will only be paying rent...not mortgage as well.
If they dont pay I will be down there in a jiffy to pull down their power lines and cut their water.

Take the lady in the picture with you.
Do something to piss her off beforehand so that's she's not smiley and approachable.
She looks like she'd be a good drinking buddy.
As long as you don't mess with her men. :haha:
Uh Oh, trouble brewin'.
Theyre my men!
Not to worry, Ducks. Sounds like you're in a target-rich environment. *channelling Top Gun*
As long as you don't mess with her men. :haha:
or her women.
So...this part is all going well.
I got a promotion in Feb, and have hired 5 more people...great team we have now. We are constantly in the top 3 of the national and I'm really proud of my team and myself for being a bitch when needed.
There's another BIG promotion on the horizon, which will mean leaving the current team and being their boss (along with 4 other places the same). It will also be a whole lot of travel on a daily basis - kids arent quite big enough for that and the boy is basically deployed for 3 months on, 1 month off for the next 12 months.
Looks like my Mum will be moving up here, which is soooo freaking awesome. I miss her heaps and I really miss my Dad - I cant do much about that one, but it makes me happy that Mum would like to be closer to me and the boys.
Congrats on the promotion Ducks! Do you have a himbo replacement?
The himbo came and visited me on the weekend, casi. It was soooo cool.
Him and the ranga (6yr old) have the same attention span and are intellectual equals (actually, the ranga is smarter - but himbo is prettier).
Himbo got all excited when the pancakes and coke spiders arrived, but his gf ordered him an open toastie, so he was all jealous....hahaha I miss that boy.
I'm employing again now, so hopefully I will get a himbo replacement out of his lot.
I have mainly been employing mid 20's guys (dont judge me!!)...24 is my cut off because my gen y tolerance turns off then.
Fuckin oath Spexxie!! I cant deal with the youngens...my "oh em gee" drama tolerance is fairly low these days.

Without compromising his identity, what kind of thing did the himbo do-at work that is that he was paid for (apart from flex Des and Troy?)
He's a Business Account Manager...so sales
Aussie to English translation:
Coke Spider = Ice Cream Soda
Aussie to Yank translation :p
Wouldn't the Aussie - Yank translation be "coke float?"
