This thread is only for words with four letters or less

Undertoad • Jul 26, 2010 4:17 pm
If a word is tiny, it must be good. It has more mass, as it is wee.

Can we talk in such a way? I know it's an odd idea, but we are word folk, as it were. You know it's true!

Try it, it's not too hard.
Clodfobble • Jul 26, 2010 4:20 pm
I can't even have five? Not fair at all.
Undertoad • Jul 26, 2010 4:30 pm
Well, let's say we go to five, only if four is full of suck.
Pico and ME • Jul 26, 2010 4:49 pm
To stay at only four need not be hard. In fact, it can be easy and set one free in a way, too.
classicman • Jul 26, 2010 4:51 pm
Four does NOT suck at all, its nice.
Flint • Jul 26, 2010 5:12 pm
I don't see why this is some kind of hard idea. I do this all the time, even when I don't know that I am. One time, a guy I know did this for a year. Then he said that he did not know how to stop. To this day, a word he uses can only be four or less in size.

That last part, I know, was not the very best, but I need to get back to work now.

Oh, by the way, I do not want us to use five. It can only be four, if you ask me.
Undertoad • Jul 26, 2010 5:19 pm
Did you try to do it in real life? It's hard to talk like this... to do it both fast and well is a mind fuck!
Happy Monkey • Jul 26, 2010 5:25 pm
What is the min word size for the find tool? Was it four or one less? It may be hard to find this page a long time from now.
Undertoad • Jul 26, 2010 5:39 pm
Nice idea, but yes, find will work on four.
SamIam • Jul 26, 2010 6:54 pm
My tiny mind has much stuff of five or more.
limey • Jul 26, 2010 7:05 pm
This is a good test for my mind and your mind too, but does it mean that the word list from full stop to full stop must be tiny, too?
toranokaze • Jul 26, 2010 7:14 pm
A tis or tat lest this test be lost

The word list is not very big, thus, we must make due.

I know we can do this if we try.

So what you note is that when a user, be it lad or lass, goes to make one of this type of post, you see that the end of the work they do will tend to be of a size less than it is when they make a post that does not have the same rule--that is to say, when they are not made to use less over more (as far as word size goes)?
Pooka • Jul 26, 2010 10:52 pm
Oh my... how I love you Flint.

You have put it so well in your post that I can't do more than grin at your apt and pert line! You play the drum and yet are damn good and word and mind work!

I don't see why the list of words to use can be tiny.
In fact when I play a word game four is the best I can come up with most of the time!
But then the test for us is that we don't have much to say, only an idea of how to say it. This can try the mind.

Sundae Girl;672946 wrote:

It is true what you say here. This is in fact the main part that we err on. It is very hard to say even a bit of what you mean when you must use this rule--the "rule of four" let us call it, as the part you mean when you say you can only use four of them is more than four of what it is that you can't use! See what
I mean?
glatt • Jul 27, 2010 9:36 am
Will this "rule of four" talk ever move on? Let's try.

You know, it used to be that 90 was hot, but now it's nice and cool. How nuts is that? How's the heat in your town or city? It's nice here. Not too warm, and not too cold.
Flint • Jul 27, 2010 9:52 am
Do you find it odd that we have not used a "bad" word yet? That is what you mean, most of the time, when you call a word the type of word that we must use when we post here. But, like Bill, the joke man of TV fame, said: you do not need to use a bad word to say what you want to say. He even felt that it was not good to do so, and that one was less of a man, or not as good at his art, if they felt they had to use a bad word in what they said. I don't know if I feel the same way, but much the same has been said to me, here on this very site! So I do note that some feel that way. At any rate, we have not gone over that line, yet, so what if we just don't do that? As a new part of the rule, I mean. Any pros vs. cons on this?
monster • Jul 27, 2010 10:00 am
It's easy. A hard test for us is if each word must have more than one beat. Like coma, easy, and user. Even most mots is a task and a half.
monster • Jul 27, 2010 10:07 am
Away, evil dual beat test. My fury will boil over if I keep this up.
Undertoad • Jul 27, 2010 10:37 am
I used a bad word. I used "mind fuck".

It was the best way to skip a long word I had in mind.

I like "bee" and "fly" cos they got that name cos they were tiny bugs.
Undertoad • Jul 27, 2010 10:39 am
Ah. We can't skip this talk of four, we won't talk of the heat of the day...
classicman • Jul 27, 2010 10:39 am
I feel that we may want to do this. I am not sure that is is the best way to go, but we may have to do it just the same.
pro - this will stay SFW.
con - this may not let some post due to the new rule.

I'd like to post more than I have, but I seem to fall shy of the mark. I try to post more when I can and I have some idea of how to do it, but it does not go as I'd want.

In each post here: each word used must be made so that if you add up each part, it is less than four…?

once upon a time, far, far, away
An ugly frog and a fair maid
fell in love
Doom took upon them.
Her mama said such a mate was not good
His papa said she was made of pink fuzz.
But they met on the sly, by and by.
And they came to kiss.
BOOM!
she was then a rich nice frog
but he was an ugly man
Such is life, she said.
And they wed.
The End.

But such a fine trip, just. Half an hour ago.

By car to Sand Bay a mile from home, to sit and see the tide race in so fast and wavy, to see the sand go as you sit and sip salt in the air.

No boats, too late and wet with soft west rain but just one huge ship very very far out at sea.

Also very many gull birds poke the sand and sea for food, not too much for them but hard fish long dead, on the sand.

A man with two dogs race the sea up the sand, the tide wins, so fast a race of flow. The dogs all wet and coat of sand, such huge fun for them.

My home then. The sand the sea the birds and the sun goes down into the west, into the sea, all gold and dead rose. I love it here and wish to tell you all, you may also have a best trip near your home like mine, do tell us all.

Swim and Dive over, our team went down tho' they swam like fish, and dove as if part of the aqua, at home in the pool. Now 'nana lady goes home to her cat free and job free life. She will be sad for a bit, we can't help. But life must go on, life does go on. We will have golf and sun and pool, she will have pals and we'll all send pics and chat.Too soon will come fall and the pool will shut. Hold back the time, I'm not yet fine to give way to the cold late year days.

With Mum and Dad away, I am in sole care of a cat I had not yet met but I'd like to bond with.
His name is Jabo, from a man that will try to stop the kick of a ball into a net. This man does his job in less than 20 miles of our home town.

Jabo is a very cool cat. He lies on the sofa and I can rub him. Not like Mia, who will claw. And not like Diz and his play. Jabo is just cool fur, like a muff.
Undertoad • Aug 1, 2010 4:58 pm

Gosh Sun Girl and Mons, each Brit like me, cool line on line, bit like the bard! Know what I mean!?

My two cats, long name mogs for here, one tiny mad moon like soul, half wild but all mine and her mum who does love me tons and also her tum tum just as much, both in my bed with me, best pals I ever had. Ever will have now.

Here too is just near the less long less hot pale days of high noon, we see days grow into slow soft fall, not our word for it (!) but less time to play out.

Kids vac from - oh no tiny word for it - you know the one - desk and poem and pen and so on and so on - just now kids all over, sea and sand and kids and dogs and mums and dads all hot and red. They all want pots of tea and coke and fish and chips oh yes and fags. Sadly.

Time to see the news on BBC and then to bed and book. Bye for now. Kiss kiss :)

Not here, dear, not here. It's not like that at all for me.

It's only a week, then a week, then one week more, plus a bit. (Ten, ten, and four days, to be more spot on.) Then my hell will be over. Well, it will be far more good in just two, when my kid list will drop from four to two, then all good past the last week. Cold I don't need, but I do need my home and head back.

Here they come
Four, five, ten, plus more
To beat the date
One must wait for
The last bit of time that we give.
Then, to moan and fret
At the long line, as if
The time is due to us.

We too fret at
Eyes too hard
Hand fist-made
Sour word.
We sigh, deep, and
Move on.
