How do you eat your corn on the cob?

monster • Jun 29, 2010 8:26 pm
When I served it at lunch the other day/week, one of my friends noted that two of us ate it typewriter-style and two corkscre style.

How do you eat yours?
jinx • Jun 29, 2010 8:28 pm
Typewriter. With "butter" and habanero sauce. RFN
monster • Jun 29, 2010 8:30 pm
and if typewriter or corkscrew, left to right or right to left?

I'm a left to right typewriter-style, with butter. And it's all gone RFN but was yummeh.
jinx • Jun 29, 2010 8:33 pm
right to left

All I want for X-mas it my two front teeth. So I can eat corn off cob:smack:
monster • Jun 29, 2010 9:39 pm
that corkscrew style should read all the way round. 3-5 rows at a time....
HungLikeJesus • Jun 29, 2010 9:41 pm
Lawn mower style.

That does look mighty tasty.

I cut it off the cob with a knife--ideally cut very close to the cob so that it comes off in sections you can pick up with your fingers.
jinx • Jun 29, 2010 10:01 pm
My kids did that when they were younger...
Flint • Jun 29, 2010 10:21 pm
That's a good job, letting your younger children play with knives.

I try to avoid eating corn...too much flossing required afterwards.
HungLikeJesus • Jun 30, 2010 8:33 am
That's why they give you all those little strings.
Pete Zicato • Jun 30, 2010 3:51 pm
Ah. But do you spread the butter on with a knife or roll it on a stick of butter?
Griff • Jun 30, 2010 4:27 pm
roll it
bbro • Jun 30, 2010 4:32 pm
Depends. If there is a small stick or enough people to warrant a full stick, do that. If not, cut it and use a fork to smear it all over. Then use salt and pepper to heart's delight :)
Chocolatl • Jun 30, 2010 4:55 pm
Type-writer style + switchbacks. If I start on the left, then I go from left to right, right to left, left to right, etc. Like an S shape.
lumberjim • Jun 30, 2010 4:58 pm
I go both ways
fargon • Jun 30, 2010 5:11 pm
I remember a movie that came out in the '80s where the man buttered some bread and rolled the corn in the bread, I tried it, it works. As for me I'm waiting for the yellow truck with locally grown sweet corn YUUUM YUM!!!
squirell nutkin • Jun 30, 2010 5:26 pm
Oh yeah, Although I usually just take a hunk of butter and use the bread to hold it while I paint the corn.

Oh yeah!

Typewriter, left to right, repeat.
Undertoad • Jun 30, 2010 6:39 pm
I let the small dog finish off the bits of corn I haven't removed.

I dont think it has any flavour!! (I picked I HATE THE STUFF)

I only eat canned corn (Organic sweet corn)
Pamela • Nov 17, 2018 2:34 pm
I'm a butter on the bread, then paint the corn kind of girl too. Learned from Dad when I was small. Then a light coat of table salt (iodized) and enjoy.
fargon • Nov 18, 2018 8:19 am
Miracle Whip with chilie powder and parm cheeze.
Griff • Nov 18, 2018 9:08 am
!!!!

Now Pete informs me the Texicans do something similar.
Clodfobble • Nov 18, 2018 10:30 am
Say what now? I've never heard of it, but Mr. Clod says he's eaten something like that before, though he wasn't aware of the individual ingredients until now.
Griff • Nov 18, 2018 5:46 pm
Pete's people use mayonnaise, chili powder, and cotija cheese.

Sounds good but may be a waste of corn on the cob.

I got the idea from Mexican street vendors.

Pete's Alzheimery step-Dad has a little dog now to comfort him. Dogs evolved with us, they are a must have around the home fire.
