June 28, 2010: Swimming High

Remember Singapore's skyline the other day?
The Marina Bay Sands hotel towers, with it's Skypark, is one of the newest changes to that skyline.

As infinity pools go, this particular one takes the concept right to the edge. 55 floors above the streets of Singapore, the pool at the city's newest resort - the £4billion Marina Bay Sands - is open for business.
The pool stretches 150 metres, three times the length of an Olympic swimming pool

I've never particularly wanted to live on the edge, but that pic made me want to go and swim on the edge to see what was on the other side.

That is fantastic. It gives me that nervous feeling you get before you do something totally stupid that you should survive.

That pool needs a diving board.
Lamplighter • Jun 28, 2010 10:08 am

Twice as scary for me. I can't swim or fly!

That whole thing is like a huge surfboard perched on top ot THREE towers.
The water just flows into a little moat where the real danger is getting pureed by the circulation pumps.
spudcon • Jun 28, 2010 9:04 pm
And they put fences around here- Sheeesh!
Leah • Jul 1, 2010 1:58 am
There is no way in this world that I'd ever swim in that pool.
xoxoxoBruce • Jul 1, 2010 2:00 am
How about water skiing?
Leah • Jul 1, 2010 2:05 am
Bruce, That pool looks like an accident waiting to happen.
xoxoxoBruce • Jul 1, 2010 2:06 am
More like a major disaster. Tiiiimmmmbbbbbeeeeer.;)
spudcon • Jul 1, 2010 8:48 am
Okay, who peed in da pool??
glatt • Jul 1, 2010 9:09 am
the pool curves like a banana. You can see what is on the other side of the water if you look way down to the other end. Instead of being curved concave, it should have been curved convex. That way, you wouldn't be able to see at all what is on the other side, and it would be that much more terrifying.

I wonder what the water weighs?
Hmmm 8.33 lbs/gallon, 150 meters long... a lot.
