What part of your body is giving you problems today?

Cloud • Jun 20, 2010 12:38 pm
--my right eye has felt like there's something in it for weeks. grr.

--My right elbow HURTS LIKE A MOFO!

I've had trouble with my left elbow for a while (pinched nerve/tennis elbow whatever), but now my right's acting up too. Prob'ly 'cause I'm fat and everything's squished and inflamed in there, but don't know what to do. Don't want cortisone injections. any ideas?
Flint • Jun 20, 2010 1:25 pm
What's wrong with cortisone injections? I ask because the pain in my wrist is not improving with R.I.C.E.
Cloud • Jun 20, 2010 1:27 pm
you have to go to the doctors office, with all the hassle, stupid testing, and expense that entails, and I think it's only short-term symptomatic relief. I'm not saying I wouldn't do it, just that it's not my first choice.
LJ • Jun 20, 2010 1:30 pm
My sweat glands are sweating me.
glatt • Jun 20, 2010 1:31 pm
Did a parents vs. 5th grade girls soccer game yesterday. Now my legs are a little sore. Didn't stop us from doing a nice father's day hike this morning.

It seems to me I remember a baseball player getting an improperly administered cortisone shot that put him on the disabled list for a little while.

My right hammy is tight today but it didn't mess up my ride.
Flint • Jun 20, 2010 1:40 pm
I'm already disabled!
Griff • Jun 20, 2010 1:59 pm
I bet they can give you relief.
busterb • Jun 20, 2010 2:21 pm
Perhaps my gall bladder. Hope not liver.
Griff • Jun 20, 2010 2:25 pm
Yikes!

Right knee is acting up again.
classicman • Jun 20, 2010 2:32 pm
Same as its been for months. Complete overall exhaustion, I am so tired of being tired all the time. My sleep opportunity window is not mine to choose and it just isn't enough.
For the last 3 days its been my neck. I tweaked it somehow and it hasn't been right since.
Oh an my ears have been ringing for about 3 weeks as well. BP, pulse and all the easy stuff checked out fine.

Are you drinking enough water?

My ears have been ringing for about a quarter century now. It continues to suck.
classicman • Jun 20, 2010 3:35 pm
I think so - I drink a lot - probably 4 - 12 oz. bottles a day.
squirell nutkin • Jun 20, 2010 5:35 pm
The physical part. My etheric body is crescent fresh. In fact, it's super cress!
skysidhe • Jun 20, 2010 6:05 pm
Ibuprofen, too much licorice, a change in the weather will make your ears ring too.
I am sure there are more but those I have direct experience with.

Sometimes an antihistamine works to dry up the eustachian tube and that helps. I have not tried it in a while. Since my last ear infection my ear has been humming along quite nicely. I should take my own advice. lol
classicman • Jun 20, 2010 10:37 pm
thanks - I may try that. Its just the oddest thing. I noticed it one day and it hasn't stopped since. Talked tot he Doc - he was concerned, ER blah blah blah. I have zero time for that.

Tinnitus is common. I have it as well.
HungLikeJesus • Jun 21, 2010 8:40 am
My ears ring so loud that other people can hear it.
lumberjim • Jun 21, 2010 9:43 am
what?
classicman • Jun 21, 2010 10:19 am
Thanks limey - I know I know ... Just got a lot going on in my life and this is currently just annoying. That and its so far down the list...
TheMercenary;664927 wrote:

Mine ring all the time though. I thought Tinnitus was an occasional thing brought on by loud noise or infection.
Clodfobble • Jun 21, 2010 2:13 pm
All you have to do is put the word "chronic" in front of it, and it becomes permanent. :)
Shawnee123 • Jun 21, 2010 2:15 pm
I remember when my ears rang and my head exploded all the time and I thought I had a brain tumor. Good times, good times.

I was hoping to avoid that part - At what point do we determine it is chronic? After a week, month or year?

I'm still trying to wish it away

Mine varies in loudness and disruptiveness. The worse time for me is at night when trying to go to sleep or when I wake up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep. I don't know. I just chalked it up to occupational exposure in the military.
classicman • Jun 21, 2010 3:30 pm
Well I followed the dead around for awhile and went to A LOT of pretty loud concerts when I was younger. Just can't get why it started seemingly outta nowhere....
DanaC • Jun 21, 2010 6:37 pm
Right elbow, and shoulder. In fact my whole right arm. Pain is shooting up and down from both elbow and shoulder joint.

It's really annoying.
jinx • Jun 21, 2010 6:48 pm
What the crap Dana? Need some acupuncture?
DanaC • Jun 21, 2010 6:52 pm
Har! Probably.

It's a combination of tennis elbow, and repetetive strain type thing. My hand as well is painful. Add to that there's a swelling under my arm (yes I got it checked, just a cyst deep underneath the surface). I think it's pressing on a nerve.

Half of this shit is down to the computer I think. A dog who pulls on the lead doesnt help much either ;p
monster • Jun 21, 2010 9:40 pm
learn to mouse and walk the dog with your other hand.

I'm finding it harder to focus on the tiny text on the deal recaps early in the morning.

also, i have a bit of a sinus thing going that is making my teeth feel loose
Cloud • Jun 22, 2010 3:56 pm
my arealo. I think I need it cut off.

. . . if I could only find the damn thing! I think it's behind my knee.

Tooth hurty for the last few days. Went to dentist today. He checked my reaction to various stimuli, and confirmed that my tooth hurty. So with my consent, he ground the top of it off, drilled a big hole in the center, and then reamed out the nerves in all the roots. He took a picture, jambed some little plastic tooth picks down into each reamed out hole in each root, and then made a nice crown that he glued to the stub that was left. Then excess glue was scraped off.

Usually when I go to the dentist for a cleaning, I see him for about 30 second. This visit, I had his attention for about 90 minutes.

We'll see how much of the $3,500 bill insurance will reimburse. I suspect it will be a hassle submitting it and I will be disappointed in the end.

But I am happy for modern dentistry.
Clodfobble • Apr 23, 2019 12:09 pm
You walked in and had a root canal done on the spot? Must be a slow day for him.
glatt • Apr 23, 2019 2:31 pm
It may have started off slow, but it got busy pretty quickly. Lots of people checking to see if we were done with the room yet.
DanaC • Apr 23, 2019 3:34 pm
Shall I set out the whole list?

:P

In no particular order: teeth (went to dentist for first time in years today + going to be several visits to sort out multiple issues including a broken tooth, a broken crown, three broken veneers and 3 extractions) - lower back (no idea what set that off) shoulder and neck (calcific tendonitis flare-up) - skin (didn't react well to this weekend's heatwave) - ears (swelling inside the ear due to immune response keeps cutting out my hearing and making everything sound like I am under water most of the time)and general joint pain

Unsurprisingly I did not sleep well again last night so am also very tired. *

There - *releases pent up tension* ...and relax.

*whats that you ask, work stress getting to me? Why yes. yes it is.
Gravdigr • Apr 23, 2019 4:24 pm
Back and neck are hollering pretty loud. Worse than the hips and knees.
DanaC • Apr 23, 2019 4:51 pm

May I humbly recommend a vigorous regimen of cannabis and beer?
Gravdigr • Apr 23, 2019 8:43 pm

The body part of my body is giving me problems today.

I think my left knee is doing ok.
Griff • Apr 24, 2019 6:53 pm
Numb toes in my right foot... clipless pedals and an uptick in climbing I guess. Left knee also good.
Luce • Nov 19, 2019 1:42 pm
My back.
DanaC • Nov 19, 2019 3:04 pm
In no particular order: back, neck/right shoulder, skin.

Sudden drop in temperature means everything has flared up.

I have a couple of busted vertebrae that have gone arthritic, and the disks sometimes (like now) like to move around.
glatt • Nov 19, 2019 4:56 pm
I've got a subconjunctival hemorrhage. It looks pretty nasty, but I don't even feel it.

I woke up with it last week, and it's been slowly fading.

might be the cold weather itches (I got those right now)

might be flesh-eatin' bacteria
Clodfobble • Nov 20, 2019 8:38 am
In our household that's usually eczema. You could try some lotions designed for it (often in the baby aisle) and see if the patch improves.
footfootfoot • Mar 20, 2020 9:21 pm
About two months ago I was working outdoors in 10f-20f weather. And I was wearing boots which may have been a problem. The upshot is that both my big toes were numb for several weeks. They've just come back to normal more or less.

That and general creaky motherfuckerism.

Plus, my torn meniscus is really being a bitch to my knee.
xoxoxoBruce • Mar 21, 2020 12:51 am
You ain't seen nothing yet.:(
footfootfoot • Mar 21, 2020 9:10 am
Toe update: it's numb again this morning. I'm going to go with nerve damage for $500.

it was either the boots or the cold.

Also, I'm dizzy when I make sudden movements. My doc says theres essentially 'floaters' in my inner ear and when I move they jostle around and make me carnival ride-ish.

I'm paraphrasing.

No, but then again neither can I sling them over my shoulder like a continental soldier.
Griff • Mar 21, 2020 9:57 am
Sorry foot. Keep an eye on it, hate to lose a toe.
BigV • Mar 21, 2020 6:39 pm
Don't be in a hurry to get rid of that toe.

SonofV and I hiked the Chilkoot Trail from Skagway, Alaska to Bennett, British Columbia some years ago. It was an epic trip, but when I got home and out of those damn boots, I found my toes were numb. They were numb for weeks. They're fine now, but I was alarmed at the time. I attribute the numbness to poor fit/lacing/overuse in the boots.
Flint • Mar 21, 2020 11:40 pm
I split my finger open playing drums. Right at the fulcrum, the inside of the second knuckle of my middle finger. Not the first time. Skin gets brittle as it gets older, I'm told.

Now I have broken skin on my hands, so I'm testing whether liquid bandage (New Skin, etc.) can shield me from detecting things like the sting of alcohol.
Griff • Mar 22, 2020 9:39 am
I'm using straight up super glue on my hand cracks seems fine.

Whole right side is a Mess due to Hip Replacement damage 10 yrs ago...it never leaves me, pain, numbness and more.... You asked I told.
