OMG - the UN is again threatening to take over the US. Thank god the Michigan Militia and other wacko extremists stand up and defend us.

UN Small arms control which directly would counter our Constitution.

They are seeking to stop the illicit international small arms trade. How does that affect us?

Only if you buy into the NRA rhetoric and dont look at the UN proposal to limit small arms smuggling objectively...and of course we know that Obama is intent on taking away your guns, the NRA said so. ;)
TheMercenary • Jun 16, 2010 8:57 pm
If you buy into the UN proposal you are giving away our Constitutional Rights. Fuck anyone who says it is about the NRA. They are plants.
DanaC • Jun 16, 2010 9:41 pm
Wait, what? They are looking to stop illicit trading in guns....how is that against your constitution?
xoxoxoBruce • Jun 17, 2010 1:04 am
It's not Dana, he's just doing the knee jerk shuffle.
DanaC • Jun 17, 2010 6:47 am
Aheh. Gotcha :)

Wait - what about that link being 9 years old? Whats the deal with that?

I am not in favor of the U.N. trying to dictate ANY policy inside the borders of the United States. The U.N. is a paper tiger anyway. Just watch and see how hard and fast the latest sanctions against Iran are enforced.

The U.N. has no authority to dictate laws about firearms in the U.S. Any laws passed will not be recognized by me or the millions of other gun owners in this country. Period.

As I understand the proposed UN treaty, it addresses the issue of the illegal international sale or smuggling of conventional weapons...from land mines to small arms. The draft is based on current US policies...the intent is to standardize it internationally.

There is nothing in the proposal that would have any impact on owners of handguns, unless you are a smuggler.

It is much like many other existing treaties that deal with illegal activities across national borders.

Further, as a treaty, it would require 2/3 vote in the Senate....so anything that even has whiff of possibly being an infringement of Second Amendment rights would never see the light of day. IMO, the idea that it is a backdoor approach to getting at the guns of gun owners is nonsense.

What I think it as objective article.

The UN really has become a completely inept organization. I really think we need to stop giving them as much of our taxpayer dollars as we do.

Point taken about the age of the link Classic.
