Coffee Table

xoxoxoBruce • Jun 9, 2010 10:09 pm
A friend of mine was talked into buying a house (and spending thousands of dollars and hours to fix up) by his daughter. He put the house in her name and after he lost his job, she evicted him from his basement apartment. So for the last six weeks we've been building him a 300 square foot unibomber cabin.

Yesterday we got him moved, but there was no room for much of his stuff, like his treadmill or coffee table... I took the table.
It's a 46 inch by 34 inch, oak, mechanical drawing file.
Now I can put away my magazines without folding the ladies.

Most excellent. I've seen this sort of thing used to hold USGS topographical maps and other such things that shouldn't be folded.

You should fill the drawers with lead and drop the fucker on her.

I feel bad for your friend and glad he had a good friend to bestow a great table to.

Last year when daughter decided to get married, he had a long talk with both of them, to make sure it was cool for him to stay in the basement. No problem, they said. Now she's pregnant and wants the basement for her mother (his ex) to use, when she comes for a baby shower this weekend.
Oh, and she's pissed he didn't spend the last six weeks sprucing up the place.

maybe lead with a little explosive?

...so it takes out the ex too?

families can suck so badly sometimes

that table looks like it was stolen from a library or a hardware store.

That's a beautiful flat file.

Your friend should befriend some printmakers, prolific drawers, or watercolor painters -- if nothing else, he'll have somewhere to properly store their work.

What a fucking rude bitch. That is a lovely flat file, though.

Very nice. Are those drawers full size, or are they half size and there's a set on the back too?

Full size, a hair over 32 x 42 inside.

You have the coolest stuff, Bruce. Maybe you should do another "cool stuff in my house" thread.

Bruce, why is my rocking chair next to your very cool flat file?
squirell nutkin • Jun 10, 2010 10:50 pm
That is in great condition, they go for quite a few bucks new.
Now you have a place to keep your "etchings" when you invite the ladies to come up and see them.

Be sure your friend leaves his daughter out of his manifesto.

I bought that when I was taking care of a chick that had back surgery... she got better and I got the chair. You're welcome to it, because I'll always be off my rocker.

Any pics of the "unibomber cabin"?
Shawnee123 • Jul 10, 2010 10:26 am
I love that.

I've always wanted an old card catalog.

Nope, it doesn't exit, you must be mistaken, Mr code enforcer. ;)
