just Wow. Well done that man.

I saw this on the news a few nights ago, then the next night they had the smoking two year old, and last night was another escalator mishap, only it was someone falling down who ended up at the bottom with no damage at all.

That kid is so lucky though. The thing I couldn't believe were the other people who passed him going the other way and didn't notice.

Yowzers!!!
jinx • May 26, 2010 10:00 pm
Holy shit-balls.
lumberjim • May 26, 2010 10:10 pm
good job, foreign guy!

that kid was spinning as he fell, and would have whacked his little bean on the concrete. probably saved his life.

excellent to outstanding.

that guy can go out tomorrow and rape a hobo and still be on the good side of the karma scale.

I would just go out and smoke a big fat dooby... if I could.
monster • May 26, 2010 10:16 pm
What's the betting it was the dad taking the video?
Aliantha • May 26, 2010 10:19 pm
OK, if that was meant to be funny just ignore what I'm going to say next.

It's my understanding the the footage is from security tapes within the shopping centre.
TheMercenary • May 26, 2010 10:22 pm
15min of fame? Hmmmmm.... I hope not.

right, i understood that too... but so focused? And two cameras? on the same spot? And no Security rushing to the scene?

No, it wasn't meant to be funny. Where the hell was the dad? it just seems a little surreal like the catcher was the only person to understand the danger....
Aliantha • May 26, 2010 10:42 pm
Or the mother?

I suppose it literally only took less than a minute to happen. Have you ever taken your eyes off your kids for a minute in a shopping centre?

I don't like to think I have, but in reality, that's probably not true.
TheMercenary • May 26, 2010 10:46 pm
Everyone has done it Ali. You can't protect them all the time. Some make it, some do not.

It is not because you are a bad or inattentive parent. Shit happens.

They said he went to the mall and home with his dad, though. The ride may have been only a minute or two, but was the dad just right there with his back turned?

UGH. Troll love is worse that puppy love.
Aliantha • May 26, 2010 10:58 pm
Who knows. I'm just saying that at one time or another this, or something like it could easily happen to almost anyone.

I know there have been times when I've felt lucky my kids are safe. It just takes no time at all for them to get themselves into dangerous situations.

You're excused. Here's a hall pass, make sure to turn it in at the office.
Spexxvet • May 27, 2010 11:07 am
It's a loooong fly kid. The center fielder goes back back back, and catches him on the warning track to retire the side.
Cloud • May 27, 2010 11:18 am
what caught my eye was the poor design at the top of the escalator. I see the kid was trying to crawl through the gap, but didn't make it.
Clodfobble • May 27, 2010 3:18 pm
I don't think it's really fair to expect escalator designers to plan for children riding all the way to the top on the outside... If anything, a "way out" for him at the top would really just be a "way to fall through" for some other kid already on the second floor.
Flint • May 27, 2010 3:42 pm
I was planning to combine the two of you into a Cloudfobble, but now I can't. Due to this debate over proper escalator design.

THANKS A LOT.
Cloud • May 27, 2010 7:53 pm
yeah; probably not a good criterion for design.
