New House

My property is broken into two distinct lots, I get a seperate tax bill for each one. My house is on one lot, my garage is on the other, which is considered "unimproved". I was thinking of putting a modular home on the "unimproved" lot, then selling my old house. If things work out right, I could come out smelling like a rose, financially. But I don't know where to start. The modular home web site said to start with financing, but I was hoping that someone here could give me some guidance. Has anybody done anything like this, and care to share their experience?

What do you mean by modular home? The internet provides a variety of hugely different definitions. How is what you want different from the typical construction of a home from the ground up?

Modulars are built off site using an assembly line process, making construction faster, less expensive, and producing less waste.

And it's often done inside, so the house isn't getting rained on before the roof is finished.
