Poetry Readings

DanaC • Apr 4, 2010 8:49 am
Having discovered the joys of owning a youtube account; I've decided to record some readings of my poems.

I haven't written any new ones for a while (got a couple on the boil that I keep returning to, but they'll probably not be finished until after my thesis :P) so these are poems that have already been posted in here across the years.

The first one is one I wrote in 2006 about my Dad.

Very nice, your poem about your Dad. I got very choked up listening to you. Your expressions were so good. Your poetry needs to be heard aloud, from you. Bravo bravo bravo.

I never would have believed it before but Poetry is an important part of our being.

I believe it to be. Although, I don't read very much poetry. I think it's something everyone should have a bash at at some point.

It's particularly important, i think, for youngsters. When we learn to read, we often utilise rhyming structures, patterns and rythms to make it easier to learn (Dr Seuss). There seems to be a natural inclination to make language flow in that way.
