Gmail Storage Space is Running Out

lumberjim • Mar 14, 2010 7:57 pm
You are almost out of space for your Gmail account.
You can view our tips on reducing your email storage or purchase additional storage.

They want to sell me more space now after all these years? Is it possible to back up my gmail elsewhere?

what the crap is this?

Might be safe to delete all those wmv files from Bruce. He's got plenty more.
lumberjim • Mar 14, 2010 10:09 pm
when i hit the limit, will they just start dropping off the end, or will it get all clogged up?
Undertoad • Mar 14, 2010 11:07 pm
Maybe they will increase the limit

It was 1GB when you signed up

You can download stuff to save on your computer.

You could also set up a second gmail account and archive the older stuff there.

Experience suggests they'll increase the limit again, but it may or may not come in time to "save" you.

How to backup gmail.

But it would probably be easier to delete stuff you don't need anymore.
lumberjim • Mar 15, 2010 4:02 pm
I just like it to be searchable....wherever I am. I guess if i created another and filtered and forwarded all my mail from 200x back, it would be easy enough.
Cloud • Mar 15, 2010 4:05 pm
unclutter your box and your life, Jim! Delete! Delete! Delete!

or . . . archive. I recently moved all my boss's gmails into the archive folder.

Cloud • Mar 15, 2010 6:02 pm
why do you need to search all those old years' email, anyway? Is there info in them that could be converted to a better source?
lumberjim • Mar 15, 2010 6:03 pm
I'M AN EMAIL HOARDER, OK?
Cloud • Mar 15, 2010 6:05 pm

Where will you stack them?
lumberjim • May 30, 2010 10:32 pm
so, today, I officially ran out of email space, and I can no longer send or receive emails with my google account. surprisingly shitty of them. I assumed that it would start auto deleting old emails.....

so i went and deleted all of my boobmail, and all of the porn i could find easily.... and got it back down to 92%, but it still thinks I'm full and I can't send or receive.

shitty. I could pay $5/year for an extra 20 GB.
Cloud • May 30, 2010 10:43 pm
if it's that important to you to keep all that old crap, then spend the bucks
classicman • May 31, 2010 1:35 pm
Wow - you save A LOT! I have a ton of research on mine and I'm only at 6%
What the hell do you have on there?
TheMercenary • Jun 1, 2010 1:56 pm
Just pay the $10 a year for extra storage space and claim it as a tax deduction.
