I changed to 2nd shift about 3 years ago and got really annoyed when I had to set the alarm to go to my mothers every Christmas.

As a matter of fact, I left early, it's no fun anymore. The Army is running the plant now and it's 90% bullshit spit & polish. Trying to get things done, while keeping the shop looking like nothing is being done, sucks.

"There's a short piece of 2x4 on the shelf under your bench."
"Yeah, I need that several times a day, when I'm drilling thin sheet metal."
"Well you have to write "shop aid" and a serial number on it, then keep it in a designated, locked, shop cabinet. When you need it (for a minute or so), get the key to the cabinet, sign out the "shop aid", lock the cabinet and return the key. After using the "shop aid" (for a minute or so), get the key, return and sign back in the "shop aid", lock the cabinet and return the key."
Do this several times a day, and end up being 10% efficient, because that's the way the army wants it done.
Incredibly stupid, incredibly annoying, incredibility expensive.

Congratulations, Bruce! Happy for ya. :D

Okay, so, umm...what's going on? :p: Hihi....Sorry, but I haven't been able to be around much, but I don't want to be a stranger. :p: Is there something else we want to congratulate Bruce other than being retired?

Bruce, in all sincerity, I am really happy for you that something good happened. And if not something really good happened, I am happy that you're happy. :D

the parts for his truck came in!
jinx • Feb 26, 2010 3:11 pm
How's that truck in the snow I wonder...
My friend with a cts caddy was shocked at the trouble he had getting it to the parking garage in 1 inch of snow.

Maybe not. The body shop told me the insurance adjuster gave him the name of a place in AZ that would have them, and the body man said he would call them Monday. I checked their website this morning and they've got zilch, so we'll see.:(

Not a snowmobile, the front tires are 10 inches wide, and back tires are a foot. For snow you want narrow tires with aggressive tread, but on dry pavement that aggressive tread costs traction.

what I would like to know is -- why do you need kisses and hugs so much? Are you a kissing bandit? Have you outgrown your affection fixation now that you're retired?
xoxoxoBruce • Feb 26, 2010 5:25 pm
I don't need them at all, I offer them to those in need.
Cloud • Feb 26, 2010 5:27 pm
You're not as cuddly as your name appears. sir.

:hearts:
xoxoxoBruce • Feb 26, 2010 5:28 pm
I can be, to those that deserve it.
Cloud • Feb 26, 2010 6:02 pm
I was actually thinking of a line from a movie, "you are not as charming as you appear, sir" (in a tone of fond amusement) and now it's driving me nuts trying to identify where that came from!
morethanpretty • Feb 26, 2010 11:00 pm
Jasmine: There you go, there you go, thinking you're all that. But you are not as charming as you think you are, sir.
Steven: Yes, I am.

I'm happy for you, Bruce. Enjoy!
TheMercenary • Feb 27, 2010 8:35 am
I'm still trying to figure out what or where you retired from. Does that mean like really fully not working anymore retired or did you just put your time in at this one long term job and now are going to do something else?[/confused]

Oh, and btw, congrats anyhoo.
