"... so I'm watching this western and the the cook on the cattle drive was that guy. You know that guy who played the gangster's sidekick in the movie last weekend."
"Oh, that guy"

Now you both know what that guy looks like, but what's his name?
Check out the That Guy site, and you might find out

Thanks....... That cleared up a lot of unanswered questions that were constantly taking up space in my head......:3_eyes:

James Cromwell and Donald Moffat could be separated at birth.......

fucking awesome.

When I started at Cherry Hill, I was a sales manager, and on my team was a guy named Dan Wilhelm. From the first day, he reminded me of someone. It took me a couple days to realize that it was that guy in the movie 'The Fifth Element' that played the Army contact that told Bruce Willis that he had to do this mission.....

that guy:

same voice, same brusque manner....same fucking guy.

That guy is chilling as Leon, the first replicant in Blade Runner.

Holden: You're in a desert, walking along in the sand, when all of a sudden you look down...
Leon: What one?
Holden: What?
Leon: What desert?
Holden: It doesn't make any difference what desert, it's completely hypothetical.
Leon: But, how come I'd be there?
Holden: Maybe you're fed up. Maybe you want to be by yourself. Who knows? You look down and see a tortoise, Leon. It's crawling toward you...
Leon: Tortoise? What's that?
Holden: [irritated by Leon's interruptions] You know what a turtle is?
Leon: Of course!
Holden: Same thing.
Leon: I've never seen a turtle... But I understand what you mean.
Holden: You reach down and you flip the tortoise over on its back, Leon.
Leon: Do you make up these questions, Mr. Holden? Or do they write 'em down for you?
Holden: The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over, but it can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping.
Leon: [angry at the suggestion] What do you mean, I'm not helping?
Holden: I mean: you're not helping! Why is that, Leon?
[Leon has become visibly shaken]
Holden: They're just questions, Leon. In answer to your query, they're written down for me. It's a test, designed to provoke an emotional response... Shall we continue?

Wake up! Time to die!

No matter how many movies I see these guys in I always associate them with a particular movie. I've seen Fifth Element, but "that guy" is always "the guy with the pictures from Blade Runner".

The grits guy from My Cousin Vinny

The nerd from Roxanne

One name they don't have on the list and should is Dylan Baker. He has to have the widest range I've ever seen in a character actor. Among lots of other roles, he's Owen - the nose-dripping, grubby, backwoods type with the pickup truck in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. And he's the slimy lawyer from Disclosure. Amazing range.

looks like Stephen Colbert
glatt • Feb 22, 2010 11:24 am
Some of the guys in that list are too big to be "that guy"

Like Fred Ward, and Sam Elliott. Maybe even Kevin Tighe, who is famous in my generation as Paramedic Roy in the Emergency TV show.

Should Brian Dennehy be in this list? Or has he become too famous?

The guy from the old musical Ebay commercials is a That Guy in movies now.
Elspode • Feb 22, 2010 9:58 pm
The nerd from "Roxanne" is Michael J Pollard. He's no "that guy", either.

I guess I'm kind of jaded. I have *always* been a big fan of talented character actors, so, to me, about half of those guys are my movie heroes.
glatt • Feb 22, 2010 10:21 pm
I think James Hong wins. 346 entries. That's not even counting recurring roles on tv series.
lumberjim • Feb 22, 2010 11:16 pm
agreed. he is ALWAYS that Asian guy.

here's That Biker

Well I wouldn't even refer to Ray Wise as even "That Guy" but now I know...He is sub- that guy. It's that one guy from that what one film, that that guy was in the film with.
Undertoad • Feb 23, 2010 5:30 am
For me Ray Wise is the insane father of Laura Palmer on "Twin Peaks".
Happy Monkey • Feb 23, 2010 9:54 am
Also an excellent devil in Reaper.

Holy crap! Pollard was in Dobie Gillis! I didn't realize he was that old.

What makes him not a "that guy"?
jinx • Feb 23, 2010 12:23 pm
I don't think Sam Elliot is that guy.

I'd have to agree on this one. He's got a few leading roles and a number of supporting roles. I think in order to be a "that guy" they have to have only or almost only tertiary roles.
xoxoxoBruce • Feb 23, 2010 12:45 pm
If you think somebody shouldn't be on the list, it's because you happen to know their name. But they are not big enough so most people know their name, which is why they're there.;)
Elspode • Feb 25, 2010 1:06 am
Pollard isn't "that guy" because (wait for it) he hasn't been in *enough* stuff over all these years to be anything but unique.

After looking at his list of movies, I realize I know him from Bonny and Clyde.
